Here's How Much MAC x Selena Costs

The MAC x Selena collection is coming to counters on Oct. 6, and with what looks like an ace mix of "drama, but accessible" shades, you'll want your wallets to be braced and ready when it lands. Happily, this isn't a collection to break the bank — the cost of the MAC x Selena collection is pretty solidly in the brand's mid-cost range. Warmth is the name of the game for the color selection, with tons of rosy neutrals on eyes and brick reds balancing out lips. The subtle glitter that runs through the collection adds interest to the wearability, nodding to Selena's signature vintage mix of sunny, accessible glamour.

The packaging is also some late '80s realness — the vibrant purple cases are adorned with Selena's signature and would look right at home on the Mermaids set. The aesthetic is very classic glam, a fresh, old-is-new departure from the low-key look that's dominated 2016. Go all out, let the strings show, we're humans! And with prices clocking in at MAC's standard of $18 for a lipstick, the brand gets it. The collection hits at the "doable, but good quality" mark that MAC nails — $60 lipsticks may look like objets d'art, but there's nothing like a lipstick that doesn't feel like a loan payment to buy.

The Techno Cumbia bronzer/blush, in two shades, clocks in near the top of the price range at $29 — the accompanying 129SH Powder/Blush brush is $35, which is par for the course of MAC's artist-quality brushes. Things only go down from there, with the liquid eyeliner, an intense black with a brush-tip applicator, costing $21 — and integral to Selena's trademark dramatic liner wings.

Build dimension from there with the mix of bright and eye-defining shadows, $17 — use the black "Is It The Beat" on top of the liner for max staying power, or the brown "No Me Queda Mas" for a tawny eye.
