It Wouldn't Be Atlanta Without Kim & Kroy

by Lindsay Denninger

If a tree falls in the forest and no one can hear it, does it make a sound? If a Real Housewives star moves out of the city that made her famous, does it no longer make her a Housewife? Even though she’s not on the show anymore, Kim Zolciak Biermann has been one of the defining faces of the Real Housewives Of Atlanta. Married to former Atlanta Falcons player Kroy Biermann, Kim now has her own show, Don’t Be Tardy, which chronicles the couple’s life together (and their kids, too). Promos for the new season, which begins on Sept. 14, show the family discussing moving now that Kroy no longer plays for the Falcons. So what ended up happening? Do Kim and Kroy still live in Atlanta, or could the next season of Don't Be Tardy look very, very different?

Kim’s Atlanta mansion is really something, so it'd be a shame if she had to leave it. She’s not exactly known for being subtle, and her décor reflects that. There’s an elevator, a “candy cane room” (which is not a room full of candy, unfortunately — it’s just striped), nurseries fit for royalty, and can we talk about that pool area? Leaving that house behind would be very, very sad for Kim, Kroy, and their brood of six children.

However, it is possible, as Kroy became a free agent this year and though he started training with the Buffalo Bills (as in Buffalo, New York) he was cut from the team earlier this month, according to the team's website. When he first left for the Bills' training camp, Kim penned an emotional Instagram post with a caption about how hard it was for Kroy to be gone.

Ultimately, Kroy wasn't gone for as long as the family thought he'd be, but what happens next depends on what team he ends up joining. It appears that Kim and family are still living in that great big Atlanta mansion, and they likely won't make any decisions about their future until Kroy knows what's next for his NFL career.

Even if Kroy signs a contract with a team far from Atlanta, that doesn't mean Kim and the whole family will leave. One of their daughters, Ariana, is in high school, and it would be hard to uproot her from Atlanta for what could be a year or two, as Kim explained to Us Weekly. “With the NFL comes a lot of change, and Ariana starting high school is tough. She doesn’t want to pick up and go start high school somewhere else, so I have to look at that,” Kim told the magazine. “It’s my marriage and my family, and how do we balance it all? It will be interesting to see where Kroy ends up and what we do to balance it.”

Whatever happens with Kroy’s football career, Kim is as supportive as can be. She told Us Weekly she just “want[ed] him to be happy.” According to NBC Sports, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers may be giving Kroy a tryout, so perhaps things are looking up. For now, the Biermann clan seems to be staying in Atlanta, so maybe if you’re in the area and ask nicely, Kim will let you see her candy cane room. Maybe.
