Urban Decay and Too Faced sit atop the makeup palette food chain, since both brands have created blockbuster editions. From Naked Smoky to the Naked Vault to Peanut Butter & Jelly to Sweet Peach, these brands dominate the multi-pan palette space. Kat Von D's Metal Matte Palette is her latest and it certainly positions her brand as a major player in the palette realm. She slayed this summer with her jewel-toned and sold-out Serpentina palette. The Kat Von D Metal Matte palette earns instant "must own" status, thanks to what's inside. Kat Von D-evotees undoubtedly have a critical question and it's this: What's in the limited edition Kat Von D Metal Matte palette, when is it out, and how much is it?
Those are all valid questions and I will answer them for your right now. The Kat Von D Metal Matte palette hosts 13 pans of richly pigmented, matte eyeshadows in rectangular pans. It also features nine metallic shades in circular pans. It's a rainbow of colors, ranging from black to blue to maroon.
The swatches really demonstrate the richness of the mattes. I'm, like, in love. The palette launches in September; the brand did not share the exact shopping dates and places yet, so stay tuned. The caption states that it will also be sold in stores next month, which would mean October at Sephora, since that's the brand's retail partner.
You get 22 eyeshadows in this long, slim case, featuring all the KVD aesthetics and signatures. The Metal Matte Palette will cost you $60. Knowing the quality of Kat Von D shadows and given the range of colors, the price is totally fair and justifiable.
The metallic swatches pop against all skin tones. What depth of color. You can do washes of color on the lid, highlight, accent, layer, build, and more.
The mattes are major. You can mix and matte. You have endless pairing options and can go with a full on matte-only eye, or you can highlight with the metallics for added dimension.
Stay tuned for more intel on the exact on sale dates for the Kat Von D Metal Matte palette. Expect to get it at Sephora, Sephora.com, and the KVD Beauty site aka all the usual places... unless, of course, it's a Sephora exclusive.
