Carrie Ann Inaba Responds To The 'DWTS' Incident

by Martha Sorren

After a scary premiere night incident where something happened to Dancing With The Stars contestant Ryan Lochte, judge Carrie Ann Inaba took to Instagram to thank security for their quick action. Although it isn't clear exactly what transpired on stage Monday night, Lochte's judging segment was cut off when someone started acting up off camera. Inaba was seen shouting "Excuse me, excuse me! Off! Off!" at someone off camera. At the time, the screen was only showing her, so viewers didn't see what occurred. UPDATE: a spokesperson for BBC Worldwide Productions, the DWTS distributor, released a statement to Bustle about what happened stating, "Two individuals stormed the dance floor tonight and were immediately subdued and escorted out of the building. The matter is now being handled by the authorities."

Earlier: From the sounds of it, someone may have attempted to rush the stage, but security quickly handled the situation. Us Weekly reported that two Lochte protestors rushed the stage before security intervened and tackled them to the floor. Ryan Lochte's reps declined to comment. When the show returned from break, the host thanked the security team "for staying in shape," and later Inaba thanked them as well. In an Instagram post after the show, Inaba posed with a member of the protection detail and added this grateful caption: "We had a bit of a scary moment during tonight's live taping of @dancingabc, but thanks to our security team and incredible staff at #DWTS, no one got hurt. Only positive energy here tonight and always. Thank you."

It was a scary moment to witness, so I can't imagine actually being there. Hopefully next week's episode passes without incident, but I'm glad the show has a protection team they can count on should anything ever arise again.
