You Have To See Gabby Douglas’ Miss America Dress

Gabrielle Douglas has taken a break from being one of the greatest gymnasts alive to lend her role model status, and her gown skills, to the hopefuls of the Miss America 2017 pageant. Douglas is used to winning, and she brings that spirit of victory to her Miss America 2017 dress. Because it's winning! Before we talk about the cut or color or design, I'd like to take a minute to personally thank Douglas for being the first to bring a taste of something majorly sparkly to what I can only hope is a long evening of serious sparkle.

She looks beautifully feminine without trying to hide her athlete body, and the way the dress flares and flutters a little at the hips makes me think of her like a futuristic woodland fairy who is both fierce and flawlessly beautiful all in one. Also, I really wish she would have done some flips down the red carpet in her Miss America 2017 gown, but I know how much work goes into creating a look like this. Plus, she's not just a gymnast. She's a dynamic young woman. But I can still dream about gymnastics in evening gowns. And I will.

From a distance, the dress looks like a shiny violet masterpiece of pattern:

If you get up close, you can see the stunning amount of detail in the triangular pattern of her asymmetrical neckline. Plus, am I the only one who is geeked that her dress and eyeshadow match perfectly?

The way the color flashes from lilac to silver seriously makes me want to glue it to my cheekbones as the most killer highlight ever.
