Nancy Is The 'Stranger Things' Costume You Need
Whether you had a marathon the day it came out, or you're just getting into it now, there's no denying the fact that Stranger Things was Netflix's breakout show of the summer. This sci-fi thriller gave summertime viewers more than enough scares, thrills, and chills to last them through winter — without, of course, forgetting about Halloween. That's why it's time to turn to the characters of Stranger Things when creating your 2016 Halloween costume. Considering many of our parents have these very outfits in their closets, dressing as the kids of the '80s is easier than ever. And if you're as afraid of the Upside Down as I am, dressing as the fearless Nancy Wheeler from Stranger Things for Halloween may be your best bet. It's time to let the Demagorgon know who the true survivors are (Sorry, Barb!).
First off, dressing as Nancy is probably one of the easier things to tackle if you're looking for something quick, but still in the Halloween/pop culture spirit. Nancy is the female character in the series that you can dress as without looking too old to be Eleven or too young to be Joyce Byers (not that I discourage you from doing either).
Here is how you can get the perfect Nancy costume for Halloween.
It's All About The Sweater
Your Nancy style is all in the sweater. You can hone in on her classic long-sleeved stripped shirt from her time wandering around the woods with a colorful striped sweater, similar to this sweater from Forever 21 ($19.90).
Colorblock Sweater Top, $19.90, Forever 21
Or this one from Forever 21 only $24.90.
Plus Size Classic Stripped Sweater, $24.90, Forever 21
Otherwise, you can stick to the brown fleece turtle-neck she wears towards the end of the first season b getting a sweater with a look closer to this one, from H&M ($29.99).
Mock Turtleneck Sweater, $29.99, H&M
Or this one Forever 21 for $29.90.
Plus Size Longline Fuzzy Sweater, $29.90, Forever 21
Either way your outfit will scream "Nancy" while Nancy screams for Barb.
Monster-Hunting In Style
It's not just about the sweater. It's also about Nancy's very specific choice of pants. Instead of throwing on your typical pair of bell-bottom jeans, Nancy takes on the woods and Will's house in some pretty nice black pants. You can get black corduroy pants from Forever 21 for $24.90.
Skinny Corduroy Pants, $24.90, Forever21
And here's this totally affordable option from H&M for just $24.99.
H&M+ Slim-fit Pants, $24.99, H&M
If you chose to be the Nancy ready to fight the Demogorgon, your brown sweater and black pants won't suffice. You'll need her stylish jacket as well. Nancy totally killed the fashion trends of the '80s with her fur-lined brown leather jacket — just like this one on Sohogirl.com ($34.50).
Faux Fur Lined Hooded Bomber Jacket In Brown, $34.50, Sohogirl.com
Or this jacket for just $30 at Charlotte Russe.

Don't Forget About The Hair
You have a lot of options when it comes to hairstyles. If you're going for a cleaner, most school-ready look, parting your hair to the side and clipping it back on both sides is your best bet (basic hair clips are just $4.29 on Amazon). And, in '80s-style, don't forget to tease your hair out a bit if it doesn't already have a natural curl or wave to it.
Just Basic Black Metal Hair Snap Clips, Set of 12, $4.29, Amazon
However, if you're getting ready to fight the Demagorgon, putting your hair up in slicked-back ponytail (You can get hair ties on Amazon for as low as $3.99) is safest.
Scunci Effortless Beauty Large No-Damage Elastics, Assorted Sizes, 36 Count, $3.99, Amazon
And You'll Need A Weapon, Of Course
You guessed it: a Baseball bat. For safety purposes, picking up a regular wooden bat, like this one from Amazon, should work just fine.
But, if you want to go all out, cutting and coloring (you can get Crayola markers on Amazon for as low as $13.54) some wooden coffee stirs grey and glueing them to the end of the bat would suffice as the nails Nancy drove into the end of her bat when preparing for the Demogorgon. You can buy a larger amount of coffee stirs on Amazon for just $5.31 — or just swing buy your local coffee shop and pick some up.
Royal 1000 Count Wood Coffee Beverage Stirrers, 5.5", $5.31, Amazon
This Nancy costume may just be enough to keep the Demogorgon away on Halloween. You're going to be one tough cookie to beat.
