Sept. 8 is Free Porn Day, the day that paid porn sites are using to hopefully get you hooked on their sexy videos enough that you'll actually pay for it. I don't know how well that will work, because have you seen the internet? It is like 99 percent porn. But hey, they're giving it away and more porn is always good. And apparently there is about 30 million hours of it on offer today, which is basically enough porn to sprain every part of your body and also probably your soul. But you don't know what you can achieve until you try, so go for it.
Basically, the idea is that a whole bunch of sites that normally charge for porn have gotten together and decided to offer it for free for one day only, to see if maybe you'll end up trying their sites. "There’s a lot of content and user experience that’s a lot better," Evil Angel CFO Adam Grayson said. "Let’s have them take the Pepsi Challenge and maybe they decide it is worth a couple bucks a month."
If you go to the Free Porn Day homepage, it's all available for free there. But what's the best on offer for women? If you check out the site, they make some recommendations. I'm assuming I don't need to tell you that their site is the most NSFW thing that has ever NSFWed, but in case I do: It's porn, people. There are plenty of sites they categorize as "porn for women," but does that reflect the porn that women are actually watching?
"Each and every year our female contingent grows and grows," Corey Price, Vice President of Pornhub, tells Bustle. "Through our various Insights posts we’ve been able to take a comparative look at female visitors and how their preferences compare against those of men, as well as how they differ among other women around the world. From our data we’ve gleaned that the top category picks around the world for women when they visit Pornhub is lesbian content followed by gay (male) and big dick. Looking at the categories viewed more by women compared to men the top categories were For women (+202 percent), Lesbian (+155 percent) and Solo Male (+135 percent). Also interesting to note is the worldwide average for time spent per visit on Pornhub for women is 10 minutes and 33 seconds."
Here's an overview of the types of porn and sites that women are really checking out, so you know what might appeal to you if you choose to celebrate the holiday.
1. Lesbian Porn
It's not just a male fantasy — in fact, it's way more of a female one. A collaboration between Pornhub and Buzzfeed found that not only did lesbian porn top our list, women were 132 percent more likely to search for lesbian scenes than men.
2. And Gay Porn
This came as a surprise to me. I know that gay male porn is a thing for some lesbians, but it actually came in ranked second for female porn searches generally. So you may want to focus in on some of the gay sites too, if you've never tried it before.
3. And Group Porn
One of my friends, who seems like the most reserved young woman you've ever met, recently told me she watches exclusively gangbang porn. And it turns out she's not alone. According to the same survey, women searched "Gangbang" 80 percent more often than men, and "Threesome" porn 75 percent more often.
4. And Rough Porn
All the stuff that we traditionally think of as being "for men" is just really misplaced. "Rough sex" and "bondage" were in the top terms for women searching, but not for men. Who'd have thunk? So if submission appeals to you, there are some sites that cater to that on offer today.
For a lot of people, as much as they might be concerned with what's in the porn, they're also concerned with where it came from. Obviously, we all want our porn to be kosher, but more and more people are calling for female-lead and produced porn. And luckily, it's available. So whether today or any other day, check out feminist groups like Pink & White, Madison Young, and so many more. Because porn can be for women and by women.
