The 10 Most Powerful Stylists in Hollywood
While it's easy to gaze at glittering celebrities like Kerry Washington and Cate Blanchett and shake our fists at their flawless DNA, the truth of the matter is that they did not wake up looking like that. Someone had to squeeze them into that Chanel and veto the "edgy" vintage earrings. Hollywood Reporter just released their annual list of the most influential stylists in Hollywood, and here are the women (and one man) who made the top ten. Because behind every great woman is an even greater stylist.
Petra Flannery
Flannery snagged an Oscar Best Actress nod this year, too, by styling American Hustle ’s Amy Adams. She likes a “boyish feel” in clothes — remember Emma Stone’s casual-ish Chanel separates at the Golden Globes? Styled by Petra. (Zoe Saldana, pictured, is one of Flannery’s clients, too.)
Micaela Erlanger
Perhaps the biggest claim to fame for Erlanger is her client Lupita Nyong’o, who shot from a red carpet nobody to someone who consistently tops best dressed lists, thanks to Erlanger’s flawless styling. Erlanger also counts celebrities Michelle Dockery and Olivia Munn among her clients.
Karla Welch (right) and Kemal Harris (not pictured)
These cool girls have the funnest client list ever, counting Justin Bieber, John Legend, Amy Poehler, Olivia Wilde, Robin Wright, Pink, and Zooey Deschanel among those they play dress up with. Best house party ever.
Leslie Fremar
Hollywood Reporter declared Fremar the most powerful stylist of 2013, but since two of her biggest-name clients — Julianne Moore and Charlize Theron — have stayed off the red carpet lately, her ranking has dropped a bit. Still, clients like Reese Witherspoon and Scarlett Johansson keep her on her toes.
Rachel Zoe
Probably the biggest name in her own right, Zoe doesn’t have a reality TV show anymore — but she does have Jennifer Lawrence. Boom.
Jeanann Williams
She’s Naomi Watts’ sister-in-law and stylist, and dressed the star in shimmering whites for both the Globes and the Oscars.
Cristina Ehrlich
Ehrlich has a handful of very, very famous talent — Penelope Cruz and Tina Fey — as well as a gaggle of younger women to dress, like Allison Williams, Greta Gerwig, and Margot Robbie (the rising star from The Wolf of Wall Street).
Erin Walsh (left)
Best known as the mastermind behind Kerry Washington’s on-point maternity wardrobe, Walsh dressed Washington in a Prada crop top at the SAG awards. Game over. She also just snagged the ultimate name in guilty-pleasure fashion as a client: Sarah Jessica Parker.

Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn
This duo styles the singers, the crooners, the rock stars. Pharrell Williams, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, and Gwen Stefani — their client list practically comes with an album deal.
