The Bachelor's Juan Pablo chose Nikki not to be his wife, but to be his girlfriend on Monday night's finale. It's not a typical outcome for the show, but Nikki and Juan Pablo are adamant that it works for them. During the "After the Final Rose" special where we caught up with the couple, the tension in the room was palpable. Things weren't all that concrete, JP still hadn't told her he loved her, and they both basically refused to talk about anything. For fans who spent the season growing increasingly frustrated with JP, they weren't pleased to see Nikki not get the adoration many of them believe she deserved.
This is a show about love after all, and people were disappointed in the lack of it on Monday night's show. But despite all the negativity in the room, the couple maintained that they were doing well. "This is a real relationship to us," Nikki said as she sat cuddled on the couch next to JP.
But hell hath no fury like an angry Bachelor Nation and all they were feeling about Juan Pablo leaked over to Nikki. People on Twitter sent her a deluge of messages. Most had a tone of concern, like one person who wrote: "You seem like a very nice person, I hope you don't wind up being heartbroken in the end." But it must be a hard pill to swallow when the world is warning you against being with the man you love.
Nikki responded to the hateful tweets this morning saying:
It's understandable that people are concerned about Nikki's decision to stay by JP's side when he hasn't even confessed his true feelings and acts like a child a lot of the time, but attacking her isn't the best way to go about things. I'm sure she's a smart woman and she made a decision she thought was best for herself at the time and who knows if their relationship will succeed or fail, but as Nikki said last night: "Time will tell."
So cool back, Bachelor Nation. Nikki doesn't deserve your ire.
