If you're ready to embrace sweaters and leaves changing colors, good news: McDonald's is ready to usher us back into fall with the nationwide release of the McCafe Pumpkin Spice Latte, set for Aug. 31. Of course, my first thought is: What's in a McDonald's Pumpkin Spice Latte, anyway? If you're a lover of pumpkin, you already know that pumpkin flavored things exist in a wide spectrum between sweet, savory, and all-around spicy. From the ingredients list McDonald's shared, it looks like their Pumpkin Spice Latte is the perfect mix of sweet and warming flavors to get you in the mood for some apple-picking and cardigan shopping.
McDonald's originally released their Pumpkin Spice Latte in 2013, though not all of the restaurants sold the drink at the time. This year marks the first time the beverage will be available in over 14,000 locations across the country, meaning that pumpkin spice lovers all over the U.S. can indulge in the same autumnal goodness. McDonald's will also be releasing an Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte in select locations, which I have a feeling will be a particular hit in the parts of the country still going through a massive heat-wave when late August rolls around.
So, what all goes into the making of a McCafe Pumpkin Spice Latte? I've broken down the deliciousness below:
1. Espresso
What would a latte be without some delicious espresso? McDonald's Pumpkin Spice Latte boasts espresso made with 100 percent Arabica beans, delivering a delightfully rich and caffeinated punch to the drink.
2. Steamed Milk
You can order your McCafe Pumpkin Spice Latte with either whole or nonfat milk, although bear in mind that nonfat might not be available at all locations.
3. Cinnamon Flavor
Ah, cinnamon. The quiet, unsung hero behind the taste of a pumpkin spice beverage. A hint of cinnamon is sometimes all you need to round out the savory, spicy flavor palate of rich pumpkin.
4. Pumpkin Flavor
Ah, pumpkin. Who could possibly forget the most important flavor of all?
