This Exhibit Celebrates 20 Years Of Harry Potter!

by K.W. Colyard

Here's a little fact to make you feel old: the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter is right around the corner. Scheduled to commemorate this momentous occasion in 2017, the Harry Potter exhibit at the British Library is destined for greatness. Here's what we know at this time.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (U.K. title) first appeared on store shelves on June 26, 1997. On the 20th anniversary next year, Potterheads will be able to purchase one of four Hogwarts house-themed editions of the first Harry Potter book.

To celebrate, J.K. Rowling's U.K. publisher, Bloomsbury, has planned a year-long series of events, including the Harry Potter exhibit at the British Library, which will open on October 20, 2017 and run through February 28, 2018. Tickets will go on sale in the spring, at an as yet undisclosed price. According to Pottermore:

The exhibition will draw on the British Library’s own collections to showcase all sorts of thrilling treasures, exploring the history of magic all over the world and displays of wizarding books. It will also feature previously unseen material from Bloomsbury’s and J.K. Rowling’s archives, as well as a number of other sources.

The Harry Potter social hub hints that more events may be in store, but none have been announced at this time.
