9 Lessons BFFs Lorde And Taylor Swift Can Learn From One Another's Style

Though Taylor Swift and Lorde have been together literally everywhere lately (well, when T-Swift isn't road tripping with Victoria's Secret models, of course...), it's pretty clear that they haven't really been swapping clothes. While one tends to lean more on the gothic side of fashion (we're looking at you, Lorde), the other is usually wearing feminine, quintessentially pretty dresses and skirts. Despite the difference between the two senses of style, there's still a lot the two can learn from one another. Though the world is already in love with the friendship between the two pop stars, if the two were to start swapping clothes — it's safe to say that we all would be more obsessed with them than they already are.

Lesson #1: Floral is OK

When I think of Lorde’s clothes, I think of, well, basically a whole lot of black. Though Taylor Swift is no stranger to black dresses herself, she isn’t afraid to wear some floral either. Even if it’s in a vintage silhouette, she still looks great. It would be refreshing to see Lorde in something so feminine.

Lesson #2: Curls Are Awesome

One thing the two very different singers have in common is curly hair. (Well, we thought Taylor Swift had curly hair — like, really curly hair, right? What happened to that?) We’d love to see Swift take some tips from Lorde and go back to her natural curls. Lorde proves tousled waves can be just as chic as perfectly coiffed straight hair.

Lesson #3: Always Say Yes To Sparkly Things

We all love Swift because she writes the songs that we can relate to, but also — because she wears so many sparkly things. (Admit it.) A little glitter wouldn’t hurt ya, Lorde.

Lesson #4: Sometimes Being A Little Scary Is A Good Thing

Lorde isn’t afraid of a bold look, and Swift shouldn’t be either. When it comes to fashion, there can be more interesting options if you aren’t insistent on just going pretty.

Lesson #5: Accessories Are Your Friend

When it comes to accessories, Lorde’s style is low-key. Swift isn’t afraid to jazz up a dress with some jewelry, and why not? Accessories are half the fun of fashion, after all.

Lesson #6: Yes, You Can Wear Lipstick That Dark

Both Swift and Lorde are clearly BIG fans of lipstick, but Taylor often opts for bright, cheery shades, while Lorde goes darker. Dark lipstick is certainly a tough trend to pull off, but when you’re Taylor Swift and your best friend probably owns more maroon lipstick than 90 percent of women on earth… why not go for it?

Lesson #7: Color Is Not The Enemy

Lorde looked absolutely stunning in her Vogue feature wearing a mint-colored dress. She should be shopping her BFF Swift’s closet for some more colorful pieces than her usual dark, neutral color palette.

Lesson #8: Break Some Rules

Swift is usually on best-dressed lists, but rarely does she take major fashion risks. Lorde wears exactly what she wants, and if it’s a little unusual, well, she doesn’t seem to care if she’s not pleasing everyone.

Lesson #9: Shoes Are Fun, Too

Who doesn’t love a beautiful pair of shoes, right? Well, apparently Lorde doesn’t seem to be a huge fan. I would love to see the “Royals” singer borrow a pair of gorgeous heels from Swift’s closet.
