Sara Haines Is More Than Qualified For 'The View'

by Sabienna Bowman

It's hard to believe this fall will mark 20 years since The View premiered. During that time, the series has changed the face of daytime talk television and featured a number of strong female voices. Now, just in time for the show's landmark year, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed the series has added another voice to its roster, with the addition of Sara Haines as the newest View co-host. For longtime fans of The View, Haines needs no introduction, but in case you have somehow missed her more than 30 guest host stints on The View, here is everything you need to know about who Sara Haines is.

Haines is an accomplished journalist who is no stranger to lifestyle topics. She began her career as a production coordinator for NBC's The Today Show in 2002, before becoming a correspondent. In 2013, Haines left The Today Show to join ABC's Good Morning America where she served as a lifestyle anchor and correspondent for the show's weekend edition. Additionally, Haines has long been a familiar face at The View table thanks to her frequent stints guest co-host, especially in 2016.

The past year proved Haines was a frontrunner for the next available co-host seat as the news anchor frequented The View to discuss the ups and downs of her first pregnancy and motherhood. Haines was even treated to an hour long baby shower episode in February 2016 prior to the birth of her son Alec. Her perspective as a new mom and balanced political views gave her a fresh voice among her fellow co-hosts.

Haines is more than a new mom though, she has a history of covering both hard-hitting news and being pop culturally fluent. That makes her the perfect fit for a show like The View which toggles between serious issues and entertainment stories throughout each episode. It also helps that Haines meshes well with existing cast members like Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar.

Haines is taking the seat left vacant by comedian Michelle Collins, and since Haines is already a member of the ABC family look for her to become an instantly prominent figure on the show. Thanks to her strong opinions on a wide range of topics from the fun to the important, Haines is sure to add a fascinating new point of view to The View round table of anchors.

Season 20 of The View premieres September 6 on ABC.
