A nationwide Yik Yak survey has revealed the most popular Hogwarts house in America. If you identify strongly with your Hogwarts house — Slytherin for life! — and want to live near like-minded individuals, you're going to want to see this map.
Despite the fact that The Golden Trio were all Gryffindors, the most popular house in America is actually.... Ravenclaw. Folks living in 28 states are all itching to don Ravenclaw's blue-and-bronze.
Hufflepuff pride reigns supreme in West Virginia, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. Residents of Washington, Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota, Arkansas, Virginia, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Georgia, and the Carolinas want to be in Gryffindor, while Idaho, North Dakota, Michigan, and Oklahoma aren't overwhelmingly in favor of any one house. Only one state, Montana, wants to be in Slytherin.
There's no word yet as to whether or not Yik Yak plans to poll users on which Ilvermorny house they'd like to be sorted into, but I'm willing to bet that that survey would generate a lot more split states than this one. As a Wampus with a lot of Horned Serpent and Pukwudgie friends — who all happen to be Slytherins and Hufflepuffs by Hogwarts standards — I'd be interested to see which Ilvermorny house comes out on top in a nationwide survey.
