'Fuller House's TCA Win Came With Catchphrases

by Kelly Schremph

Even though it's been a couple of years since I was considered a teen (OK, maybe more than a couple), that didn't stop me from tuning into FOX this Sunday night to see who came out on top at the 2016 Teen Choice Awards. And, in a way, it really did make me feel like a teen again, particularly thanks to the fact that one of my favorite '90s sitcoms received some much deserved love for its Netflix spinoff. That's right — Fuller House won a Teen Choice Award for Choice TV Show: Comedy, beating out the likes of Ryan Murphy's freshman series Scream Queens and other equally impressive competitors.

But the win itself wasn't the only Fuller House highlight of the evening. Several of the cast members took the stage, including Candace Cameron Bure (DJ Tanner), Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie Tanner), Andrea Barber (Kimmy Gibbler), and John Stamos (Uncle Jesse), all of whom decided to use their limited time on stage to say a few heartfelt thank you to the fans, their own TV dads, and made sure to slip in a few iconic catchphrases while they were at it. Between Bure's quip of "Oh Mylanta, I can't believe we won!" and Sweetin's addition of "If you didn't vote for us, how rude!," there was no doubt this was definitely a Full House affair. Everywhere you looked, there were catchphrases! (Now even I'm doing it.)

But nostalgic speeches and unforgettable catchphrases aside, this was definitely a well-deserved win and one I never thought I'd get a chance to see in my lifetime, given how long Full House had been off the air. I guess it just goes to show that good things don't have to come to an end... at least when you have Netflix on your side.
