Will Taylor Swift Be At The Teen Choice Awards?
In case you missed it, Taylor Swift's name has been in the news even more than usual over the past two weeks. Who could forget the #KimExposedTaylorParty on Sunday, July 17? Let's be honest, it'll go down in pop culture history. After Kim Kardashian West posted Snapchats that some people felt contradicted Swift's prior statements about Kanye West's song "Famous," a cursory skim of my Twitter feed told me that everyone and their uncle was decidedly on either #TeamTaylor or #TeamKimye. Kardashian West and Swift are both nominated for multiple Teen Choice Awards — so it could get all sorts of awkward if they run into each other at the ceremony. But, let's not get ahead of ourselves — will Taylor Swift attend the Teen Choice Awards?
She's nominated for two major awards — Choice Female Artist and Choice Song — Female Artist, but there's no official word on whether or not Swift will attend the ceremony. In May, a post on her official website celebrated her nominations and encouraged everyone to vote for her. It also listed the day and time of the Teen Choice Awards, but it didn't mention whether or not Swift would be in attendance. On July 20, E! released an exclusive list of confirmed attendees — and neither Swift nor Kardashian West were included. Plus, she's not included on any available lists of performers or presenters.
Of course, none of this means that an appearance from Swift is out of the question. Her 2016 tour doesn't kick off until October and, although she has many professional commitments, it seems like she could carve some time out of her schedule to attend the festivities and collect her awards in person if she does win in either or both of her categories. With 25 Teen Choice Awards to date, it's likely Swift will nab at least one more surfboard on July 31.
But, while we wait, let's take a look back at some of her memorable Teen Choice moments.
2009
Swift missed the ceremony in 2009 due to a previously scheduled concert. Her friends surprised her with a massive sign that read, "Taylor... You Just Won Two Teen Choice Awards" and her reaction was priceless.
2012
After winning Choice Female Country Artist, Choice Single for "Eyes Open," and Choice Country Song for "Sparks Fly," Swift ended the night on a high note with a surfboard for Choice Female Artist.
2014
Although Swift's win for Choice Female Country Artist wasn't televised, she took the stage to present the Choice Movie Actor award.
Though she hasn't confirmed anything yet, I think there's a good chance Swift will show up this year — and, if there is a super awkward moment between she and Kimye, I really hope it's televised.
