The 2016 MTV VMA Nominations Are Amaze
One of the most anticipated ceremonies of the year is undoubtedly MTV's Video Music Awards. Some of the most iconic moments in pop culture history have happened at the VMAs, from Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift's acceptance speech in 2009 to Miley Cyrus's risqué duet with Robin Thicke in 2013 when he wore what looked like a Beetlejuice outfit to Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj having bad blood in 2015. Needless to say, everyone's excited to watch this year's ceremony, and, if you weren't already, you will be once you've seen the nominations for the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards.
Leading the nominations, and in an awesome career best, Beyoncé has a total of 11 nominations for videos from Lemonade, her ground-breaking visual album. Meanwhile, Adele has an impressive eight nominations, seven of which are for the "Hello" music video alone. Endlessly referenced, and often parodied, it's no surprise that "Hello" is nominated for so many awards, especially as it's been watched on YouTube 1,649,084,179 times to date.
The "Video Of The Year" award looks to be a fierce contest between some of the most impressive music videos from the past year. Pitting Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Adele, Drake, and Beyoncé against each other guarantees that the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards will be an incredible night. The show will air live from Madison Square Garden on Sunday, August 28 at 9:00 pm ET, and it really can't come soon enough.
Let the battle commence.
