Can You Catch Pokemon In Your House?

by Dasha Fayvinova

In the last couple of weeks, every childhood dream we had in the '90s has come true with the release of Pokemon Go. Millions of people are turning their phones into tools for capturing Pokemon, spending hours upon hours walking their neighborhood streets looking for those majestic cartoon creatures. But can you catch Pokemon in your house, avoiding all of that stressful walking? The answer is yes. Yes, you can.

No offense to walking and being active and stuff, but sitting at home and catching Pokemon is possibly the best way to experience the game. Seriously. I was deathly sick the entire first week of the game's release — so sick that I couldn't leave my house for six days. Did that stop me from enjoying the magic that Pokemon Go has to offer? No. I just figured out a way to stay in my bed and still catch Pokemon. So if you are like me and too sick to go outside, or got the urge to catch 'em all in the middle of the night, this article is for you.

Sure, you won't get as many opportunities to battle in gyms or catch super-rare Pokemon. But it turns out that all you need to do is simply ignite some incense and enjoy a half hour of Pokemon catching in the comfort of your own bedroom . That sounds like the type of game I can totally get behind as soon as possible.

The first step you should take is to open the app. Once you are at your home screen, tap the Pokeball icon.

It will take you to the following screen. Click on the "items" knapsack.

Select the incense icon and let that mother go! It will start working right away, and will give you half an hour of Pokemon attraction. The little creatures will have nothing else to do but fall right into your lap.

Once I set mine off, it literally took half a minute for a Pokemon to appear.

A wild Rattata appeared on my couch. All I had to do was aim and fire. The Pokemon was captured, and I now have two in my arsenal. I didn't have any more appear the rest of my time on the app, but it was worth not having to put any effort and get one anyway.

Not bad for sitting on my living room couch!

It's worth noting that you have a limited number of incense modules, so don't use 'em all up in one go. Wait until you level up enough to get more — or, if you're feeling very fancy and have income to dispose of, you can buy some in the Pokeshop with real cash money. No judgment, fellow couch potatoes!
