Lykke Li's New Video is Here to Make You Ugly Cry

by Maitri Suhas

If there's an icebox where your heart used to be, Lykke Li's new video for "Love Me Like I'm Not Made of Stone" (even the goddamn song name cripples me!) is the perfect antidote. The beautiful little crooner hasn't released a new album in three years, and the forthcoming I Never Learn (GOD could she stop wrecking us) is bound to sound beautiful and make us feel a lot of feelings that have been buried in this frigid winter. It's admittedly an album of sad Sad Girl music, which is right up my alley. In an interview about the new album, which will drop on May 6, Lykke Li assures us there's no respite from heartache on the record:

I wrote ["No Rest for the Wicked"] in Sweden when I was packing up my shit, and I’d just gotten out of a relationship and it was a horrible time. I just had the hurt, shame, sadness, guilt, longing. In the verse, I’m referring to myself pleading guilty but I’m referring to all of us.

Well, all right then. The new video is a total "FEEL MY PAIN" picture; it's a gorgeous chiaroscuro slow motion portrait of Lykke Li just kind of floating around looking bewildered. Do not watch if you are wont to being a Highly Sensitive Person. The rest of the track list and the lyrics for "Love Me Like I'm Not Made of Stone" were also released today; some track names include "Gunshot," "Never Gonna Love Again," and the last song on the album, "Sleeping Alone."

If you wanna spend your summer sobbing, we've found your soundtrack. Don't we all wanna be stony ice queens impervious to the pains of love?
