Chanel Fall 2014: A Fashion Supermarket (!!!)

The clothing fit right in with the food — not necessarily the other way around.

Every last item was part of the Chanel brand. There were also teas, alcohol, produce, toast, coffee, rubber gloves, and doormats, among other things.

At one point, a Barbie-like “couple” came into the store to do a little afternoon shopping.

This model wore a heavy padlock around her neck, though her hands were free for stuffing as much Chanel-brand tea into her pockets as possible.

The multi-color eye makeup was a vaguely toned-down version of last season’s painted-on, wildly colorful eye.

Some of the models looked like they belonged in the floral section…

…while others conjured up, however faintly, poultry.

Clearly, knee-high kicks were the only appropriate way of making sure one hit up all the sales.

Many of the models wore knock-offs of Lagerfeld’s famous fingerless gloves.

Here’s a glimpse at the hair: ponytails were crimped and braided, along with strips of Chanel tweed, for a dreadlock-like effect.

Are those the leather jogging pants that Kanye West won’t stop claiming he invented?

Some shoppers had apparently just arrived from the Charles de Gaulle airport, but couldn’t wait another moment to stock up on those famed French cheeses.

So this is what evening wear looks like under fluorescent lights!

Though there were the obligatory all-black looks, Lagerfeld didn’t shy away from explosions of vegetable-worthy color.

Here we have the matryoshka doll of Chanel purses.

Lagerfeld also debuted a turtleneck that looked like it was caught stealing from the candy aisle.

Most of the clothes had a pretty obvious workout vibe; we’re kind of shocked the show didn’t go full-on Supermarket Sweep.

Stella Tennant carried the must-have accessory of the day: a shopping basket.

“A lady needs two things to shop well: sneakers and pearls,” said the ghost of Coco Chanel.

Recognize this face? The now-ubiquitous Kendall Jenner got in some shopping of her own with a pint-sized shopping basket.

And of course, it wouldn’t be a Chanel show these days without Ms. Delevingne misbehaving (before walking solo down the runway, she grabbed a bottle of Chanel whiskey from the shelves).
