The Best Place To Find A Vacation Fling On Tinder

by Amanda Chatel

Now that we’ve reached July, the summer vacation season has officially begun. What this also means is that it’s time for summer flings, and one way to find those flings is by using Tinder Passport. How else are you supposed to have a rendezvous with a hot Parisian when you’re in Paris for Bastille Day?

The Tinder Passport feature, which is available for Tinder Plus subscribers, is perfect for those who love to travel. It allows you to change your location even before you get to town by dropping a pin on a map. From there, you can start swiping left or right and make connections with people anywhere in the world. Now, instead of wandering the streets of Barcelona alone or drinking Chianti on a terrace in Rome solo — not that either scenario is a bad thing — you can have a buddy with whom to do these things. And, even better, you get to meet locals who are going to give you a more authentic adventure than if you stuck to the tourist traps.

"Travel is about making connections every step of the way — seeking advice before you go, getting to know locals and meeting people on the road — and technology continues to make them easier to create," Lonely Planet editor MaSovaida Morgan said in a press release from Tinder. "It's now possible to plan your trip almost as if you have already landed."

With more and more people traveling, having something like Tinder Passport is the ideal companion for those who like to travel alone, but just might want to have some fun (aka a hot one-night stand) with someone when they arrive, too.

If you have a case of wanderlust and want to know where to find your fellow travel addicts, then check out this list of the top Tinder Passport destinations. This could be the summer you fall in love with someone on the beaches of Rio — talk about the beginning of one hell of a love story.

10. Buenos Aires, Argentina

Coming in at No. 10 on the list is Buenos Aires. Not only is this cosmopolitan city the biggest in the Argentina, but it’s right on the water, too. It’s also pretty close to Uruguay for those looking to get another country under their belt.

9. Barcelona, Spain

Oh, Barcelona! As I have learned from my own Tinder experience here in Barcelona, this is definitely a great place to meet interesting people. Not only are the locals a lot of fun, but Barcelona is full of people from all over the world. I’ve been on dates with a Catalonian, Venezuelan, and a Colombian. In fact, I might not be coming home again.

8. Sydney, Australia

In the eighth spot on the top 10 destinations for Tinder Passport, there is Sydney. Again, we have a place right on the water, but this time of year, you really can’t enjoy it because it’s their winter. But, if you’re currently dealing with epic swamp ass in wherever you call home at the moment, then heading to Sydney is looking like a brilliant idea.

7. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

With the Olympic games just around the corner, thousands and thousands of people will be descending upon the city of Rio. In fact, research by Tinder Passport has found that visits to this Brazilian city have jumped by 10 percent in the last year alone. And, should you be fortunate enough to find yourself in Rio later this month, the condom end of things is covered thanks to the Brazilian government handing out 9 million sustainable condoms, to both athletes and spectators.

6. Stockholm, Sweden

At number six on the list is Stockholm. Although the days are pretty long in Stockholm this time of year (the sunrises before 4 a.m. most of this month), it doesn’t mean there still isn’t ample time for clubs and hookups.

5. Moscow, Russia

Smack dab in the middle of this top 10 list is Moscow. Which, to be honest, is a little surprising because it seems so random on this list. But, whatever the reason people are headed to Moscow instead of St. Petersburg, if you happen to be one of them, it sounds like you’ll find someone to meet there on your excursion.

4. Berlin, Germany

Coming in at No. 4 is Berlin which, although hot as hell this time of year, is totally worth seeing for the art, the clubs, and the beer. It’s also in the top countries in the world that use Tinder, so that’s something.

3. New York City, USA

Well, of course. New York loves Tinder and Tinder loves New York and, from what I hear, this place is the capital of the world — at least according to New Yorkers. If you want to know where the best pizza in town is, how you should order your bagel, where to score cheap tickets for Broadway shows, or the best dive bar in town, then you want a local to show you all that good stuff. Leaving NYC saying that Times Square is your favorite part of the city means you totally missed out.

2. Paris, France

In second place on the list is Paris, the City of Lights, love, and fromage. While experiencing Paris solo is romantic enough on its own, having someone with whom to share a glass of wine or confit de canard takes things up several notches. Also, the accents.

1. London, England

Top vacation destination for those using Tinder Passport? London. I guess it does have its charm — when it’s not raining.
