Over the last several years, the Little Free Library has gone from trend to fixture. If you haven't joined in on the fun yet, this Harry Potter Little Free Library in Wisconsin will make you want to grab a hammer, some nails, and maybe even a wand.
Heidi Zweifel, a middle grades librarian and book blogger, received her — handmade (!!!) — Harry Potter Little Free Library as a gift from her mother. She tells Bustle she had wanted one for a while, and mentioned the idea to her parents, but she had no idea what they had in store. When she went out of town for a night, her parents sneaked over and installed the Harry Potter Little Free Library as a surprise gift.
Zweifel says her mom worked in secret, watching and re-watching the Harry Potter films, to get everything exactly right. She styled the Harry Potter Little Free Library to look like Hogwarts. Cut-outs of Harry and Malfoy zoom past the school's upper-floor windows on their brooms, while Ron, Hermione, and Dobby watch from below. The loveliest touch is the crop of six Cornish pixies, who are making mischief in one corner of the building. The inscription on the side reads, "For Heidi from Mom Dad & Uncle Don."
Zweifel stocked her Harry Potter Little Free Library with some of her favorite YA and middle grades titles, including The Fault in Our Stars and The Golden Compass. Not every Little Free Library story has a happy ending, but I think we can all say we're pulling for this one.
