Nickelodeon's 'Double Dare' Is Coming Back
For those of you who still dream of crawling out of a gigantic, gunk filled nose or catching pies inside a pair of oversized clown pants, I have some fantastic news; Nickelodeon's messily fun children's game show Double Dare is returning for a live special. That's right, folks — what a time to be alive. The only downside? The special is scheduled for one night only at San Diego Comic-Con in celebration of the show's 30th anniversary (seriously, the show is 30 years old? Way to make me feel old). The classic and fondly remembered Double Dare will also be returning with host Mark Summers orchestrating the slime splashed chaos, with the special being streamed on Facebook Live via The Splat's Facebook Page and can be watched on Friday July 22, from 9:30 p.m. PT.
And don't worry, most of your favourite, disgusting and wonderfully silly physical challenges will also apparently be making a return. So we can all look forward to the Wringer, Human Hamster Wheel, Down The Hatch and, of course, the booger-infested challenge of the iconic Double Dare Nose to take place, making all of our Nickelodeon game show nostalgia dreams come true. Behind-the-scenes images and a question and answer session are also reported as being due to be featured on Snapchat and Twitter, for those desperate to pick the brain (and not the nose) of Double Dare host, Summers.
As an added treat, the one-off special will also be followed by Summers hosting Double Dare week on The Splat, starting from Monday July 25 at 10 p.m. ET and will include memorable episodes and moments from the original series as well as from Family Double Dare and Double Dare 2000. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Summers confirmed exactly why the show's return will be so important to so many people, explaining, "Thirty years later, people still stop me on the street every day and tell me playing Double Dare is the one thing they wish they could have done growing up." You're damn straight, fella.
