Leslie Jones Found A Premiere Dress Using Twitter

by Melanie Richtman

One would assume that as a celebrity, finding a designer gown to wear to a movie premiere wouldn't be a difficult task, but apparently that wasn't the case for Saturday Night Live star Leslie Jones, who was having some serious trouble finding a designer to dress her for the upcoming Ghostbusters premiere.

Tuesday, Jones tweeted in frustration, saying, "It's so funny how there are no designers wanting to help me with a premiere dress for movie. Hmmm that will change and I remember everything." While designers haven't come out and explained why they weren't interested in dressing Jones, one can assume that it stems from some kind of discrimination.

Luckily, Christian Siriano happened to be on Twitter at the right time, and quickly responded to Jones' tweet with the waving hands emoji — the 21st Century way to offer to give someone a dress for her movie premiere. Jones responded with the most appropriate response: "YAAAASSSSSS."

Siriano has dressed plenty of celebs, including Kerry Washington, Christina Hendricks, and Jennifer Hudson, and told TIME that he is a huge fan of Jones' work and he can't wait to create something on her behalf. He even said that he hopes she will visit him at his studio.

I feel a friendship blossoming.

Jones was very tempted to call out the designers who opted out of dressing her, but she refrained, tweeting, "Hmm what a difference a tweet makes. Should I name the designers that didn't look out? Put y'all ass on blast. You will not get my love later"

Siriano has been getting praise for offering to dress Jones, but he shared a post on Facebook saying that he shouldn't be congratulated for doing the right thing and that he hopes the industry will change.

I, for one, can't want to see the dress Siriano designs for Jones' July 15 Ghostbusters premiere. I'm sure it will be lovely.
