*NSYNC Better Reunite On The Walk of Fame

by Caitlin Gallagher

*NSYNC might have broken up in 2002, but that doesn't mean they still aren't loved by all who grew up memorizing the dance moves from their music videos. So when it was announced that *NSYNC would get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2017, fans were probably more surprised that their favorite boy band hadn't been honored on Hollywood Boulevard already. As it's tradition for the people receiving a star on the Walk of Fame to attend the unveiling, this news could mean another reunion of Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick, and Justin Timberlake. [Insert requisite "Bye Bye Bye" joke here.]

The pop stars performed together during the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, but the mini-reunion left fans (including this one) wanting more. The reunion was really a platform for Timberlake with the rest of the group only briefly performing parts of "Gone" and "Bye Bye Bye." While Timberlake has done enough outside of *NSYNC to earn him his own star, he will be honored first alongside the group that made him famous and so this recognition could mean an *NSYNC reunion done right. Right?

Yes, I may be delusional to be imagining all five guys of *NSYNC doing a street performance in Los Angeles of "Tearing Up My Heart" when their star is unveiled in 2017, but I'm not alone. Fans took to Twitter upon hearing this glorious news to also wish for an *NSYNC reunion.

While I think it's more realistic to just expect *NSYNC to smile for a photo op and move on after their star ceremony, other people are hoping for the ultimate gift — an *NSYNC reunion tour. Bass claimed his wedding was like an *NSYNC reunion (without Timberlake, sadly) and Fatone and Kirkpatrick already recorded a song together in 2016 for Nick Carter's Syfy movie Dead 7, but I can't consider any of these events as legitimate reunions. Although I'm very happy for Timberlake making his own way in the music and movie industry with his latest song "Can't Stop the Feeling" released for his movie Trolls, I want — no, need — a real *NSYNC reunion. And the group being honored by the Hollywood Walk of Fame is giving fresh hope to this dream.

*NSYNC is far from the first boy band to be recognized by the Hollywood Walk of Fame (Backstreet Boys already have their star) and they won't be the last (New Edition also is getting a star in 2017). But they are the boy band that the world would be most amped to see reuniting and performing some of their hits. Though it may not happen, at least take comfort in knowing that the world will never forget *NSYNC thanks to their star on the Walk of Fame and that the band members know just how much their fans adore them even after all these years.

So congrats to *NSYNC and the other 2017 Hollywood Walk of Fame honorees! Now, *NSYNC, let's get to work on that reunion tour.
