A Song of Ice and Fire at the Box Office

by Sarah Freymiller

Walt Disney is at it again: Frozen crossed $1 billion mark at international box offices Sunday, and looks to be a strong contender for Best Animated Feature at the Oscars. The film is only the second animated film in history to earn $1 billion, the first being Toy Story 3. Whether it's the magnetic voice acting, the gorgeous animation, or the goofily endearing characters, Frozen has been melting hearts since this Thanksgiving. And, with Punxsutawney Phil calling in another six weeks of winter, we can still pretend to live the film for the next two weeks.

True Frozen fans will also enjoy watching Idina Menzel perform "Let it Go" tonight at the Oscars, before freezing the first two rows into celebrity popsicles (don't worry, no dresses will be harmed). Other Oscars Frozen highlights should include: Josh Gad (Olaf) handing out carrot flavored snow cones, Kristen Bell (Anna) arriving in an eco-friendly reindeer sleigh, Jonathan Groff (Kristoff) providing ice sculptures that can be reused to cool beverages, and Ellen Degeneres (host) sliding in on a flash-frozen ice luge. Well, a girl can dream. Best of luck to Frozen tonight, and may it continue charming audiences the world over!
