Is Lindsay Lohan Recording New Music Soon?!

by Kaitlin Reilly

If there's one (former?) starlet that I'm still rooting for, it's Mean Girls actress Lindsay Lohan. It would be an understatement to say that the child actress, who became an early '00s "it" girl, hit a few bumps in the road of life in recent years — bumps that included trouble with the law, multiple stints in rehab, and a famously bizarre return to the screen with Bret Easton Ellis' The Canyons — but I've always had my fingers crossed that this young talent could get it together. Lohan certainly seems like she's on a healthier path these days, and news about the young actress has been mostly positive since Lohan got off of probation in May of 2015. Could a return to music be the next step in her happier, healthier life? It's possible: according to Lohan, she'll release a new album one day, and it's the perfect time to revisit the actress' discography.

Lohan discussed her future music career with Mean Girls co-star Rajiv Surendra (Kevin G!) during a live chat, in which she stated that she was still contracted to release a new album under Universal Motown. According to Lohan, the reason why she hasn't yet dipped her toes back into the music world is because of her younger sister, Ali Lohan: "My sister is signed with EMI and she is recording a record, and [I'm waiting to make music] out of respect for her and her true career choice."

So, bummer: we'll have to wait a while for new music from the eldest Lohan sister. However, that doesn't mean we can't listen to some of her older jams in the meantime. Here are the Lohan songs you need to rediscover while you're waiting for Lohan to have her music renaissance:

1. "That Girl (Drama Queen)"

This song, which was featured on the Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen soundtrack, is the ideal pop track for theater kids and for anyone who rocked a silk headscarf in the '00s.

2. "Ultimate"

Lohan dipped into Hot Topic to play the part of Anna in Freaky Friday, and this rock-inspired track was technically Anna's song to Chad Michael Murray's greasy/cute character.

3. "Confessions Of A Broken Heart (Daughter To Father)"

Perhaps the most personal song on this list, Lohan's ballad is reportedly about her tough relationship with her father Michael Lohan. The video even stars younger sister Ali as a stand-in for Lohan.

4. "Rumors"

There was a time when the paparazzi pretty much stalked Lohan, and this song (and super-stylized video) reflects the claustrophobia Lohan felt during her rise to fame.

5. "Bossy"

This song, featured in the Lohan-starring film I Know Who Killed Me, has a pro-consent message.

6. "First"

For all the women out there who are only the jealous type when they're really, really into someone, this song is for you.

7. "Over"

Still get chills when Lohan sings "tell me that it's over, and I'll be the first to go."

8. "Fastlane"

Before Drake released "The Motto," Lohan released this track, in which she told the world, "you only live once, and I'm living for today."

9. "Blackhole"

This song pours one out to all of the exes who ghosted you.

10. "I Decide"

This track, from The Princess Diaries 2: A Royal Engagement, is a total anthem.

11. "To Know Your Name"

This song might as well be "Rumors, Part II," and for that, I love it.

Can't wait to hear what other music you have in store for us, LiLo! Hurry back to the pop scene.
