Like her Parenthood character, Julia Braverman, Erika Christensen gave birth to a baby girl. The actor welcomed her new daughter on Tuesday, her rep confirmed to People. As you can imagine, Christensen and her husband, Cole Maness, chose a pretty great name. They are now proud parents to a daughter named Shane Maness. Seriously, how adorable is that?
Shane was born at home in California and weighs 6 lbs., 3 oz. Before officially welcoming her first child, the 33-year-old actor alerted fans that she was in labor. She tweeted Tuesday night, "I'm in labor. Right now." It wasn't until Wednesday morning that Christensen's little one's birth and name were announced.
Now, let's talk about the name. In addition to loving it, I have to say that I'm pretty sure Julia Braverman would also adore it. I mean, what's not to love? As Parenthood fans know, Julia was a mom of two to her daughter, Sydney, and son, Victor. Well, seeing as Sydney also starts with an "S" like Shane, I think Julia would love the alliteration. Plus, both Sydney and Shane are gender neutral names. I'm not sure if Christensen identifies as a feminist, but Julia certainly did, meaning a gender neutral name is right up her alley.
Without getting too deep about it, let's just say I'm sure Julia would be ecstatic for Christensen and absolutely gush about the moniker. Which Parenthood fans agree with me? All of you? That's what I thought.
In late March, Christensen announced she was pregnant on Twitter. Alongside a photo of her dog, she wrote, "This boy is getting a little sister. A human sister. She'll make her first appearance tomorrow at #Confirmation." That she did. While waking the red carpet for the premiere of HBO's Confirmation, Christensen showed off her seven-month baby bump. Ever since, she's been capturing her pregnancy on Instagram in some stunning and inspiring photos. You should definitely check them out.
As for her Parenthood family, I think it's safe to say that Dax Shepard is ready to be an uncle. He tweeted her Tuesday, "lastly, can I drive you to the hospital? I want to see you at your very chubbiest point."
Yeah, I'm going to need some photos of Uncle Dax and Shane, stat. With that, congrats to Erika and Cole on officially joining parenthood!
