Just when you thought it was safe to get back in the Bachelorette waters, there’s more drama. JoJo’s season is just a magnet for it, huh? I thought that all of the weird, needy machismo stuff would go away with Chad’s departure, and… well… nope. It didn’t. It’s even worse now — Chad actually was tempering all of the needy crap. With him gone, things are getting worse. Nice guy Derek, Jim Halpert lookalike, has gained himself an enemy. Why doesn't Alex like Derek on The Bachelorette?
JoJo took all the guys on a group date sand surfing or something in Uruguay, and during the evening portion of the date, Alex expressed that he needed some reassurance from JoJo on her feelings for him, aka "gimme dat rose." Unfortunately for Alex, Derek basically said that same speech to JoJo, and I guess that JoJo liked his more? I dunno. She gave Derek the group date rose, saying that it was for someone that needed "reassurance," and Alex's head exploded. There was no reason in my eyes to choose one guy over the other (I'm not marrying them, though), but Alex was none the pleased. Now, he hates Derek forever and ever. He even called Derek an "insecure little bitch," even though he also told JoJo he wanted more from her. This is mature man stuff, right? These are grown men.
To add crazy to crazy, Alex confronted Derek after the rose handoff to ask him why JoJo gave Derek the rose instead of him. Like, dude — you'd just have to ask JoJo. The funny part about Alex is that we all thought he was in the right with the Chad thing, and now that Chad is gone and Alex is isolated, he's picking fights with other guys in the house. Did he go up to his teachers while he was in school and argue every grade? You didn't win this one, Alex. You have no chill. You'll get the next one. Really, he's taking his frustrations out on Derek when he should be taking them out on JoJo. She's the one that didn't pick him. I don't know where this goes from here, but I can say that Alex is not going to look good if he continues on this path.
