What Sloane From 'Ferris Bueller' Is Doing Now
One of the ultimate slacker comedies from John Hughes, Ferris Bueller's Day Off is turns 30 on Saturday, June 11. And even three decades later, Bueller's girlfriend, Sloane Peterson, is still iconic for her breezy attitude, her fearlessness of detention, and that incredible fringe jacket. Sloane was played by actress Mia Sara, but where is she now?
Sara, 49, has stayed pretty under the radar since her last acting credit. According to IMDb, her last role was in the mini-series Dorothy And The Witches Of Oz, a 2012 modern retelling of the classic that finds Dorothy as a novelist in New York that, according to Slashfilm, finds that her travels to Oz were real. Sara played the evil Princess Langwidere, who is in cahoots with the Wicked Witch of the West.
Though she didn't have many major roles after Ferris Bueller, she did stand out in the diabolical role playing Dr. Harleen Quinzel, aka Harley Quinn, on the WB series Birds of Prey, which ran for one season from 2002 to 2003. In a futuristic Gotham city, she played a Harley Quinn that was a therapist who was trusted by society but was in actuality, of course, an insane, evil mastermind and the former lover of the Joker.
Since playing Princess Langwidere, though, Sara has all but disappeared from Hollywood, which is disappointing for anyone who loved her so much as Sloane (who, I must declare, belonged with Cameron and not Ferris, OK?) But! Someone fans can learn about her is that she's married to puppeteer Brian Henson, the son of the legendary Jim Henson, the creator of The Muppets. The two have one child together, according to Express, and live in Los Angeles with their teenage daughter. She'll always be that cult sweetheart Sloane, but for now, she's a mom married to the Muppet heir.
But if there is ever a Ferris Bueller's Day Off reunion, let's hope Sara will be there, because it's not playing hooky without her.
