What Time Is The 2016 Tony Awards Red Carpet
Whether you've been lucky enough to score tickets, or if you've been admiring all the Broadway glitz and glam from afar like some kind of theatre-obsessed Little Match Girl, Tonys night is finally upon us. So, when do the festivities start? What time is the 2016 Tony Awards red carpet?
Well, luckily for us, the red carpet has a pretty hefty head start on the awards ceremony, which will commence at 8:00 — the live red carpet show will actually start quite early at 5:30, to really give us time to appreciate all the fabulous ball gowns about to come flying our way. This year, as with last year, the Tonys red carpet is sponsored by Nordstrom — so nominees and presenters alike will be sporting shoppable Nordstrom accessories (including all your favorite designers, like Jimmy Choo and Alexander McQueen).
With ultra-fashionable stars like Cate Blanchett, Lupita Nyong'o, and Michelle Williams making their way down the red carpet this year, it'll be especially exciting to see what kind of outfit/accessories combos they manage to whip up. Whatever they wear, it's sure to be covet-worthy, which makes the ecommerce angle exciting. Plus, as Nordstrom's vice president of designer merchandising Jeffrey Kalinsky explained to WWD, "I think Anna Wintour got involved less officially last year but definitely loves Broadway and wanted to elevate the red carpet… I’m expecting to see a nice evolution of what was started last year."
Fortunately for all parties involved, the Tonys red carpet is actually a little difficult to miss this year — thanks to Nordstrom, it will be streamed across many platforms, including Vogue.com, People.com, CBS.com and EW.com, tonyawards.com, and Nordsrom's own blog, The Thread. It's everywhere.
So, between the performances of Hamilton, the ample hosting capabilities of James Corden, and, of course, the fantastic red carpet, we should all definitely tune into the Tonys this weekend, right?
Remember, the red carpet starts at 5:30 PM EST!
