Everything's coming up Cursed Child this week, it seems, because Pottermore just released the first image of Hogwarts in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child . The play officially went into its first preview show a few hours ago, meaning that there are living, breathing human beings who are coexisting with us right now who know what happens in the eighth installment of this series. And womp — if you're reading this right now, statistically the odds are you are not one of them, either.
At the very least, we can all still share in some of the magic of this historic moment, thanks to the image. It features Cherelle Skeete as Rose Granger-Weasley in the middle of what appears to be the Sorting Ceremony. Around her there are five groups of people, four of them under banners for each of the Houses, and one of them lingering behind her. I'm not the best at squinting at desktops, but it looks like she is the first of the main characters — Albus, Scorpius, and Rose — to be sorted, as Albus's head appears to be behind hers and Scorpius isn't visible anywhere in the photo.
For your No-Maj cross-examination, I present:
No, YOU'RE FREAKING OUT 3,000 MILES AWAY FROM LONDON'S WEST END IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR OFFICE.
Trust me, guys, I looked this upside down and backwards for potential giveaways (I can't help myself), but J.K. Rowling meant business when she told us all to #KeepTheSecrets about this play. Just as she was extremely diligent in keeping plot details from the seven books under wraps, she is asking anyone who sees the play in previews to keep spoilers to themselves until the release of the Cursed Child script on July 31.
In the meantime, if anybody has any trouble reaching me in the next year, it's probably because I will be diligently camped outside of this theater low key dying from lack of cell phone battery until someone lets me into this theater.
