This Week's 'GoT' MVP Was A Sassy Little Girl

by Leah Marilla Thomas

Honestly, I think I would be content to watch Jon Snow get schooled by young women all day. Who is Lyanna Mormont on Game of Thrones ? Only your new favorite character, of course. Never underestimate girl power. This little one calmly and cooly schooled both Sansa Stark and Jon Snow. Only Ser Davos, a fellow outsider, was able to get through to her. Lady Mormont is a sixth grader with a lot of attitude and a small army on Bear Island. In Season 5, Jon did indeed get a letter from the child that said "Bear Island knows no king but the King in the North, whose name is Stark." That's referring to Robb Stark, who even then was long dead. What a tiny punk! I love this child.

She raised a good point, though. Jon is a bastard. Sansa has been married twice. Robb is dead. Rickon has been captured, and nobody but the audience knows where Bran and Arya are. As far as Westeros is concerned, House Stark is dead. Lyanna was a little rude to Arya and Jon, but I think she's trustworthy and a valuable resource.

Plus, for all you "R+L=J" heads out there, it probably doesn't hurt that Game of Thrones is adding a character named after Lyanna Stark. Additionally, Lyanna is Jorah Mormont's cousin. If Jorah hadn't been stripped of his title for selling slaves (ironic isn't it), he would be ruling over Bear Island right now. Thankfully, this lady has got things on lock.
