Reality TV Couples That Broke Up This Year

Being on reality TV can be good for a lot of things. It can bring you increased fame, help launching a business, or can get you paid for Instagram posts, but it is not necessarily the best thing for people's relationships. There are always jokes about couples on reality television being destined for a breakup, but there is definitely some truth to the idea. A lot of reality relationships really don't last long, and there have already been a few reality TV couples who have broken up this year.

To be fair, a lot of these breakups could turn into reconciliations since it seems like these people live for breaking up and getting back together. Nevertheless, they're breakups for now. And even though we are barely half way done with 2016, there have still been a good amount of reality TV separations.

If you thought their lives were dramatic before, these splits have added even more drama. From long marriages coming to an end to tumultuous young love to couples who you didn't even realize were dating, there have been a lot of reality TV stars who have really gone through a lot this year.

1. Kylie Jenner & Tyga

By the time I finish writing this sentence, I feel like Kylie Jenner and Tyga will get back together (again), but it has been reported that the controversial couple secretly broke up before the Met Ball and this why they walked the red carpet separately. There is no official explanation for the split from the pair themselves, but there has been plenty of alleged drama in the past considering Tyga has a child with Jenner's brother's current fiancée, Blac Chyna. It seems like these two are done, but who knows what's going to end up happening?

2. Ozzy & Sharon Osbourne

Wow. No one saw this split coming. Sharon and Ozzy were such a solid unit. It is pretty shocking that they split up after being married for 33 years. Sharon confirmed on an episode of The Talk that while she and Ozzy are separated, she's not sure if they'll stay married.

3. Cynthia Bailey & Peter Thomas

Real Housewives of Atlanta fans saw this one coming before these two even got married. After all, Cynthia's mother and sister tried to stop the wedding. Now, Cynthia and Peter are officially separated, as Cynthia confirmed to Bravo's The Daily Dish.

4. Khloé Kardashian & Lamar Odom

Yes, I know that Khloé Kardashian and Lamar Odom were not necessarily a couple in 2016, but they were spending a lot of time together as Kardashian helped Odom through his recovery. After Odom's hospitalization, Kardashian rescinded her divorce filing, but in May 2016, she reportedly filed for divorce again. And I am pretty devastated about it — probably more than I have been over the demise of my own past relationships.

5. Kenya Moore & Matt Jordan

I was really rooting for this relationship, so I am hoping that these two can make it work. According to E! News, the couple split over Memorial Day Weekend, but Kenya Moore posted on Instagram on June 2 that she and Matt Jordan are "having some issues" and that they "have love for each other." We'll have to see what happens!

6. Steve-O & Kat Von D

I don't even know if people knew that Steve-O and Kat Von D were a thing, but now it's too late to get invested in this former relationship. They previously dated in 2007, according to The Mirror, and in 2016 they reportedly broke up again after a second relationship of three months. No one really knows what caused the split, but the two reality TV vets might end up getting back together, which seems to be the pattern with these people.

7. Pauly D & Aubrey O'Day

Pauly D and Aubrey O'Day ironically got together while filming the show Famously Single, and then there were reports that they broke up not long after. But now that they are promoting the show, the two are clearly dating and taking over my Instagram feed, so who knows what really happened. It could have been a break or maybe there were just rumors, but they seem to be all good now.

No matter how "famous" people are, everyone goes through breakups. Luckily for most of us, it just is not as public as these reality star splits.
