There's a lot to love about summer: the warm nights, the bikini-clad days, and all of that beloved downtime with family and friends. But if you're the makeup-wearing type, it can also mean a messy headache, and quite frankly, a sweaty mess. Here are the nine best sweat-proof foundations you need to know about to get you through the hottest of summers.

Summer can be a sticky time, even if you're naturally dry or have combination skin. I try to compensate for extra oil and sweat production in the summer by keeping my skin well moisturized (so it doesn't overcompensate by sending my skin's natural oil production into overdrive). But no matter how hydrated my skin is, it still doesn't stand a chance against the high temps of July and August.

The good news? You can fight shine and boost your foundation's mattifying powers by prepping your skin with a primer, or mixing a primer into your foundation. The latter will sheer out the coverage, making it great for beach days, but also keeping your finish totally matte all day long. Mattifying setting sprays can also help lengthen the lifetime of your foundation while cutting down on dewiness.
