Like Selena Gomez wisely once sang, "the heart wants what it wants"... and now a report by TMZ claims that what Selena Gomez wants is Orlando Bloom, as the two were photographed together on May 7 in Las Vegas, looking pretty cozy at an after-party celebrating the kickoff of Gomez's Revival tour. This wouldn't be super surprising to anyone as the two were rumored to be hooking up way back in 2014, which set off a flurry of tabloid rumors about their romance. But it seemed like the rumors were just that — rumors — especially as Gomez was later rumored to be dating Samuel Krost, and Bloom was spotted with singer Katy Perry in early 2016. These new photos are certainly eyebrow-raising, but the truth is, Gomez and Bloom are actually really close friends and there's some pretty obvious proof.
Gomez and Bloom have never confirmed if they dated, but Bloom has been spotted with Perry multiple times this year alone, and Gomez is playing the field. She covered the June issue of Marie Claire and told the magazine, "I've been dating. I've been having the best time. But I don't trust anybody, so dating can only be fun if I know I'm going to have fun." And while it feels like these cozy photos of Bloom and Gomez are coming out of left field, they're definitely not.
This photo, from October 2014, shows the pair with a group including actor Seth Rogen looking pretty friendly... but that's about it. Furthermore, earlier this year, Gomez sent Bloom some love on Instagram for his birthday, sharing this cute photo and caption:
Aside from the fact that Gomez calls Bloom "Orly," which is both the oddest and cutest thing ever, it certainly seems like these two are simply close friends. Their friendship seems unlikely, potentially due to a sizable age difference (he's 39, she's 23), but it honestly seems like romance rumors are purely rumors, and that the pair are just good friends who happened to meet up in Las Vegas over the weekend, as you do.
