Stevie Nicks Wants to Write Music for 'Game of Thrones' & We Rank Her Best Crossover Collaborations

It looks like George R.R. Martin can add Fleetwood Mac to the list of stars who are huge fans of his series: Stevie Nicks loves Game of Thrones. While Nicks mourned the loss of her mother in 2011, she found comfort in watching the epic HBO drama. In an interview with Radio Times, Nicks noted, "I didn’t leave the house for almost five months...And then I got pneumonia. With my pneumonia and my mother’s death, I watched the entire first season of Game of Thrones. That certainly took my mind off everything."

Nicks was so drawn into the show that she wrote poetry for each of the main characters. She also commented that, "I would love to write some music for the show." So y'know, David Benioff and D. B. Weiss should totally jump on that because a Stevie Nicks and Game of Thrones crossover needs to happen. She's also Stevie Freakin' Nicks and what she says, goes.

Game of Thrones has a history of including excellent musical spots including songs by The National and The Hold Steady and we think a Nicks composition for her favorite character Khaleesi would be nothing short of perfection.

It wouldn't be the first time Nicks delved into the world of television. Take a look at our 5 favorite scene-stealing moments by Stevie Nicks.

'American Horror Story'

Of course this Witchy Woman appeared in American Horror Story: Coven . In what was essentially the most perfect crossover ever, Nicks played the White Witch and performed her songs “Rihannon” and “Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You?” She also gave her number one fan Misty Day a magical shawl. It was everything you would have wanted from Stevie Nicks and AHS: Coven.

"Bootylicious"

At the peak of Destiny’s Child’s fame and matching ensembles by Mama Knowles, the gals released “Bootylicious” in 2001. The hit featured a sample of Nicks’ own riff from her song “Age of Seventeen.” Nicks was totally ready for all of the jelly because she made a cameo in the video.

'Glee'

In 2011, Glee dedicated an enitre episode to the iconic Fleetwood Mac album Rumors. Earlier in the same season, the New Direction gang covered “Landslide” for which Nicks decided to stop by the set and watch filming. She grew so close to the cast that she reached out and provided support when Cory Monteith passed away in 2013. Though she didn’t appear on the show, her connection to the cast and crew is inspiring.

Vanessa Carlton's Wedding

The two musicians became close after Carlton toured as an opener for Nicks in 2012. Carlton was married to fellow singer John McCauley by her mentor/spirit guide in December, 2013. We dig.

'Up All Night'

Both Christina Applegate and Maya Rudolph are big fans of Stevie Nicks, so it was a huge treat when the legendary musician made a guest appearance on their sitcom in 2012.
