The Caramel Waffle Cone Frapp Tastes Like Summer

by Kathryn Kattalia

On a scale of one to need this in my life right now, the latest Starbucks menu item is easily a 10. What does the Caramel Waffle Cone Frappuccino taste like to make me say such a thing? I'm not overreacting. The new Frapp tastes exactly like the classic boardwalk treat that inspired it — a waffle cone, obviously — and if you were looking for an early blast of summer, this, my friends, is it.

Starbucks introduced the new drink on May 3 (conveniently, the same day it announced Frappuccino Happy Hour would return as well), and it's just about as caramel-y as it comes. The coffee-based beverage is infused with a rich dark caramel sauce (not to be confused with the caramel sauce that gets used in its regular menu beverages), and a waffle cone-flavored syrup that I seriously want to put in everything from now on. The whole thing is topped with a ribbon of whipped cream (because duh, we're talking about Frappuccinos here, people), a sprinkle of actual waffle cone pieces, and another drizzle of dark caramel sauce, just in case you haven't had enough yet. Starbucks calls the new beverage "a carnival delight, all grown up," and it does kind of make you feel like a kid in an ice cream shop as you suck one down. (Pro tip: eat the waffle cone pieces first with a spoon — you won't regret it.)

How do I know you'll love the Caramel Waffle Cone Frappuccino? Because I've tried it myself — and I made my coworker get in on it with me. Check out our Bustle CWC Frappuccino taste test video below.

Now let's break down what makes this drink so delicious.

1. The Dark Caramel Sauce

Starbucks is bringing in extra re-enforcements to make sure the Caramel Waffle Cone Frappuccino lives up to its name. This drink comes infused with a rich, toasty dark caramel sauce that hits you on the head with its intense flavor — in the best possible way, of course.

2. The Waffle Cone-Flavored Syrup

That's right — Starbucks came up with a brand new syrup to give this Frappuccino its flavor. And guys? It tastes exactly like a waffle cone. Exactly. Like one.

3. The Coffee

This is a coffee-based drink, and you can definitely taste those java notes. For what it's worth, this Frapp also comes with 55 mg of caffeine.

4. The Whipped Cream

The best part of any Frappuccino, to be honest.

5. The Waffle Cone Pieces

A real life waffle cone is crumbled up on top, officially cementing this drink's baller status. This is what the dream is about, people.

The drink runs between $4.25 and $4.95 for a tall (the price depends on the market), and is available in all participating U.S. and Canada stores starting May 3 through the summer months until supplies run out, so grab one when you can.

As for that Frappuccino Happy Hour I mentioned earlier? Between May 3 and May 15, head into any Starbucks between the hours of 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., and get a Frappuccino for half price. Yup, it's really that easy, and it's kind of the perfect opportunity to try a Caramel Waffle Cone Frapp immediately. Just a heads up, though — you'll probably be hooked.
