When you think "Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology," you might conjure up images of robot-print bodysuits or slicked-back, artificial intelligence-esque hair. But Claire Danes at the 2016 Met Gala was something else: Something (very literally) glowing. Rocking a glow-in-the-dark, space-fairies-would-be-proud Zac Posen gown, Danes stole the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum Of Art on May 2. I mean, how could she not? Her dress is glowing in the actual dark, people.
The tech involved in the creation of this number is amazing in and of itself, and the fact that the 37-year-old actor and beloved My So Called Life legend looks like Cinderella incarnate only makes the whole spectacle even better. Although I cannot imagine that a dress with such an overpowering train is particularly easy to walk around New York City in, I have to hand it to Danes. Her ensemble looks like something out of a futuristic fairytale — the sort of Disney princess movie we might be showing our kids a couple hundred years from now.
Danes paired the whole look with a simple ballerina-like bun at the back of her head, leaving no doubt that all eyes are meant to be on the spectacular vision she's wearing.
The Internet agrees: It's game over, guys. Claire Danes won the Met Gala.
You show 'em, Claire.
