All The Looks From The 2016 Met Gala

by Sara Tan

If 2016's red carpet looks have ceased to amaze you so far, prepare to be stunned. All the looks from the 2016 Met Gala prove that this party is the fashion event of the year! Oscars, Schmoscars. Grammys, what? If the glamorous gowns and black tie tuxedoes of these major events have bored you to death, restore your faith in fashion with this year's out-of-this world attire from tonight's haute couture fete.

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that it is a gala and not just some awards show. After all, these celebrities and models have been working with their favorite designers over the past year to come up with show-stopping get-ups to match this year's incredible theme. And unlike some of the former ones, this year's theme was 100 percent on point. ICYMI, tonight's guests are dressing up with "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology" in mind. We're not taking a trip back to the past, folks. Beyonce, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, and co. are all taking us into the future with their looks this evening, and I could not be more thrilled.

Here are all of the high-tech, high-fashion looks from the 2016 Met Gala.

Beyonce

You would think, after rocking a million stylish outfits in Lemonade, Queen Bey would be left with nothing to wear. And yet, she shows up to the red carpet and slays. Truthfully, are any of us really surprised?

Anna Wintour

Anna Wintour set the tone for the evening in her futuristic-inspired fringed frock.

Amandla Stenberg

Leave it to the always stylish Stenberg to rock the beautiful hair accessory I've been waiting for.

Bee Shaffer

Wintour's daughter, Bee Shaffer, kept it elegant with pops of pink and blue florals.

Lily Aldridge

Aldridge takes a page from Kylie Jenner's book and accented her brows with gold glitter, because the future is bright — and sparkly!

Poppy Delevingne

Poppy Delevingne's silver beaded chandelier-esque gown is a sign that robots of the future are going to be shimmery and sexy.

Gigi Hadid & Zayn Malik

Here come the knight in shining armor memes...

Lilliana Vasquez

Vasquez's messy faux-bob adds a sweet, but subtle edge to her fierce yellow patent leather Pamella Roland gown.

Lorde

Lorde looks like an actual sci-fi princess with her layered chiffon gown and long gloves.

Catt Sadler

Catt Sadler is dressed to kill in this form-fitting Melina Dzinovic gown that is literally being held together by strings of fabric. She topped off her look with her gorgeous Simon G jewelry pieces. #Slay.

Rose Byrne

Byrne's look is old-Hollywood-meets-the-future with its shiny metallic fabric and wire choker.

Alicia Vikander

Larry Busacca/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images

I'm not used to seeing something so untraditional and unique on Vikander, so I definitely am giving her props for going so bold (c/o Louis Vuitton)!

Alexa Chung

No one wears a suit quite like Alexa Chung. I mean, just look at her. #BowDown

Herizen F. Guardiola

Proof that your dress doesn't have to be sequined or silver to go with the theme.

Margot Robbie

This simple and chic white floor-length gown is how Calvin Klein interprets fashion-meets-technology, and I love it.

Anna Ewers

Silver? Check. Shiny? Check. You may proceed to walk this year's Met Gala!

Lupita Nyong'o

Everyone can go home now. Lupita Nyong'o has, yet again, won the show.

Louise Parker

The high collar of Parker's black mini dress is giving me life.

Jared Leto

A cane is the perfect red carpet accessory. Not only does it look chic, but when you're tired from all the standing around, you can lean it on it for support — all while looking super cool, NBD.

Julie Macklowe

Respect to Julie Macklowe for committing to the theme, 100 percent. #FuturisticTinWoman

Rachel McAdams

Platinum bobs paired with a vampy lip is majorly in this spring, according to Rachel McAdams, Taylor Swift, and well, everyone else.

Fei Fei Sun

I would've loved to see something a little more out of her comfort zone, but Sun still looks like a total queen in this gorgeous white beaded gown.

Juno Temple

There's something romantic and Victorian about Temple's look, but of course, with a tinge of futuristic edge.

Tavi Gevinson

Gavinson goes for a more understated look, and while I'm not sure it matches the theme, it definitely is something in her fashion wheelhouse.

Taylor Swift

Swift is not messing around tonight with her piecey platinum bob, black lipstick, and those strappy leather sandal heels. Get it, girl!

Chloe Grace Moretz

Simple, sure, but beautiful? Without a doubt!

Michelle Williams

It's been a minute since we've seen our beloved Michelle Williams, and I couldn't be more happy about her red carpet comeback.

Uma Thurman

Uma Thurman is a real life Queen, in case you didn't know.

Saoirse Ronan

I can't decide if I love her feathered shoulder accent or her eye makeup more.

Rita Ora

Is that a bird? Or a plane? It's Rita Ora in Vera Wang, y'all.

Elle Fanning

Elle Fanning told E! News that technology was a key part of her dress this evening, since she was in Luxemborg and her designer, Thakoon, was in Hong Kong during the creative process.

Hailee Steinfeld

Loving this strapless emerald green number on Hailee Steinfeld. And those dark lips! Swoon.

Misty Copeland

What better way to celebrate her new Shero Barbie Doll than with a fabulous party?

Selena Gomez

Gomez's Louis Vuitton look is not as experimental as I had envisioned, but she looks amazing, as expected. Points for those chunky lace-up boots, too!

Grimes

Experimental and futuristic? Just another day at the office for Grimes.

Lara Stone

How is this the first choker of the evening? Love.

Aja King

Thank you for bringing color to the red carpet, Aja King.

Sarah Jessica Parker

The Met Gala veteran usually steps out in ballroom gowns, but this year, she decided to go for a more casual look, sporting capris and a white trench jacket.

Ellie Bamber

Obsessed with this gown, from the champagne hue to the floral embroidery, no matter how off-theme it might be.

Emily Ratajkowski

Prabal Gurung knows how to make a beautiful gown, ladies and gentleman.

Kate Bosworth

Kate Bosworth is a Greek Goddess from the future.

Kate Upton

Would you have guessed that she was wearing a Topshop gown? Me neither.

Zoe Saldana

Her train looks like a literal garden and I want to have a picnic in it.

Jennifer Hudson

Hudson looks like she's floating, like an angel, above the clouds (read: her train).

Jessica Hart

There's always room for a crop top on the red carpet.

HAIM

Never have their ever been a more well-dressed trio of sisters.

Kerry Washington

Kerry Washington does not mess around when it comes to themed parties.

Lily-Rose Depp

No awkward teen phases in sight for Miss Depp.

Kylie Jenner

Kylie was born for this moment — sheer dress and all.

Willow & Jaden Smith

Sibling #GOALS.

Liu Wen

Sheer, silver, textured — Liu Wen FTW.

Nicole Kidman

This sparkly beaded cape is better than all the superhero capes combined.

Kris Jenner

This is basically the same dress as Kylie Jenner's, except black, right? #Twinning

Karlie Kloss

It's no wonder Karlie Kloss was jammin' to Drake's "Fancy" before this. No other song would've been appropriate!

Kendall Jenner

Jenner's Versace gown screams vacation more than haute couture to me, but I'll take it.

Demi Lovato

Jeremy Scott nailed Manus x Machina. Bravo.

Amber Heard

Heard's metallic Ralph Lauren gown is simple, but elegant.

Kate Hudson

This gown is definitely something we'd find in Katniss Everdeen's closet.

Lady Gaga

The only bodysuit you'll be seeing tonight is that of Lady Gaga's, because, why compete?

Katy Perry

Now that is a gala gown.

Karolina Kurkova

In case you missed it, Karolina Kurkova's gown lights up by tweets. The future is here, guys.

Jessica Chastain

Everything about this blue Prada gown is royal.

Brie Larson

Larson's gown looks eerily similar to that of Taylor Swift's. Oops?

Emily Blunt & Olivia Wilde

These two prove that shiny jewelry and baby bumps are the best red carpet accessories. (On Emily Blunt, Forevermark diamonds; on Olivia Wilde, a gorgeous mirror choker.)

Amy Schumer

Amy Schumer in this red Alexander Wang with wire cut-outs and a thigh-high slit is her best look ever.

Freida Pinto & Tory Burch

Who says the future has to be stark colors and hard edges? Not these two!

Nicki Minaj

The devil's in the (buckle) details.

Zoey Deutch

No matter what the theme or year, florals always make their way to the Met Gala carpet.

Naomi Watts

Naomi Watt is a disco ball dream in this shiny, silver, custom Burberry gown.

Kim Kardashian

Right after this, Kim Kardashian told E! News that she would give her fabulous gown to North West because, well, she asked for it. Spoiled.

Emma Stone

All that's missing from this outfit? Dragons. #Khaleesi

Katie Holmes

Katie Holmes brought her extra long locks and clumpy Twiggy-inspired lashes to the gala, and I love it.

Miranda Kerr

Add a fabulous fascinator and you've got yourself an Effie Trinket-approved ensemble!

Anna Kendrick

I don't know what's Manus x Machina about this Derek Lam gown, but it sure is gorgeous.

Zoe Kravitz

Yes to everything about this outfit. EVERYTHING.

Emma Watson

At first glance, Watson's outfit looks pretty basic, but upon closer inspection, you can see the structural detailing on her pants (which were made of plastic bottles!), as well as the uneven cut of her off-the-shoulder top.

Zendaya

Larry Busacca/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images

Zendaya brings back that much talked about bowl cut bob to the Met Gala, complementing it with this insanely stunning bronze gown.

Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen

At least they both didn't wear black?

Mia Goth, Mia Wasikowska, & Stacy Martin

Individually, these dresses are beautiful, but together, the cuts, colors, and textures stand out even more, making them that much more stunning.

Solange

Leave it to Solange to make the most show-stopping statement on the red carpet. No, it's not a traditional gown, but it's far more memorable than most of the looks we've seen tonight!

Kristen Stewart

From her messy faux hawk, to her silver smoky eye, to her sparkly leather Chanel number, Stewart's look totally nailed the theme.

Jourdan Dunn

Everything about this silver gown is perfection, down to the most minute detail.

Hannah Davis

A little bit on the safe side, but beautiful nonetheless.

Kanye West

True love is when your partner wears a jacket that's custom made to match your gown. Also, please note his super fierce blue contact lenses.

Ivanka Trump

Ralph Lauren in bright republican red, natch.

Allison Williams

Peter Pilotto's innovative designs made him the perfect person to create a gown for this event. I mean, just look at Allison Williams!

Blake Lively

This isn't an unexpected look from Blake Lively, but it sure is lovely.

FKA Twigs & Robert Pattinson

A modern day Romeo and Juliet, y'all.

Madonna

Just when you thought Madonna couldn't surprise you with her looks on the red carpet, she shows up in this sheer number. (Surpriseeeee!)

Jennifer Connelly

Connelly pairs grunge boots with an almost star-studded gown and as off-beat as it sounds, it totally works.

Amber Valletta

A slicked back 'do is just the edge that this beaded dress needs.

Dakota Fanning

Fanning's dark, gothic get-up could not be more disparate from her younger sister's pale champagne gown.

Elizabeth Debicki

It may not be a literal interpretation of the theme, but there is something mechanical about how the flowers are displayed on this gorgeous green dress.

Bella Hadid

The skirt! That slit! Her hair! I die.

Chloe Sevigny

In a galaxy far, far, away, stockings make for perfect gloves and Chloe Sevigny is king.
