Katy Perry's Met Gala Makeup Is Going To Be Bold

by Olivia Muenter

If there's anyone who's an absolute pro at changing her look and making it look easy, it's Katy Perry. And if there's any event that's meant for switching up everything about your style, it's the Met Gala. So, naturally, when you combine Katy Perry and the 2016 Met Gala, it's going to be a pretty brilliant marriage in any case. And given that Perry just created a 13-shade collection of lipsticks (and two mascaras) for CoverGirl, the makeup side of Perry's Met Gala look is bound to be something to remember. At an event to celebrate her CoverGirl collection on Perry revealed to me and other editors that she'll be wearing black lipstick to the fashion event of the year. The best part? You can own the same shade for less than $7.

"Tomorrow [May 2] I'm wearing Perry Panther, which I'm very excited about," Perry says. "I'm wearing black lipstick. Very fashion, right?" Fashion is right. Sure, red lips are bold and, of course, a classic beauty moment. But a black lip shade? I bet you can't think of the last time you've seen that on any red carpet, let alone at the Met Gala. Now, whether this is simply because of the intensity of the look itself, or because black lipstick hasn't really existed in many varieties on the market until now is debatable.

Either way, Perry is wearing black lipstick on the most fashionable Monday of all, and you can wear the same shade for less money than it costs to buy a fully-loaded burrito bowl. Perry Panther (the black shade Perry will be wearing at the gala), as well as every other color in the CoverGirl Katy Kat Matte collection, retails for $6.94, making it a steal for anyone.

Perry Panther, as well as 10 of the other shades, are all available for pre-order right now on WalMart.com, and are said to ship out on May 15, according to the site. The remaining two shades will be available some time in June, according to CoverGirl.

Given how all other celebrity-approved matte lipsticks sell out these days, you might want to get on that ASAP.
