Selena Is Simply Stunning At The Met Gala

With a BFF like Taylor Swift, it might feel difficult to stand out. But even though she was supposed to show up with arguably the biggest pop star in the world, Selena Gomez at the 2016 Met Gala demanded to be solo. In other words, Gomez is nobody's sidekick: This girl was born to stand out.

Access Hollywood reported that Gomez and Swift would be attending "Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology" together on Apr. 29, but there was no hint of what Gomez might have chosen for her gala look.

"[Taylor and I] are going with each other," the 23-year-old Gomez told Access Hollywood . "It's so fun, it's going to be the best. It’s kind of like prom for fashion."

They didn't show up together, but Gomez is right about the event: It's basically a high-fashion prom, complete with a theme and epic costumery and some of the biggest names in the game.

In an environment like that, you've got to do whatever you can to stand out and make those cameras point your way, and Gomez did just that. Wearing beaded Louis Vuitton with a leather bodice over a white dress with rivets. She also sported some dope black and white sneakers and a pair of futuristic sunglasses. Call me crazy, but the whole thing just worked.
