We've waited what feels like years, but the wait is over. After teasing the album for nearly two years, Drake has finally released VIEWS on iTunes, and trust me when I say that it was worth every second of the wait. (It's also worth noting that the wait was slightly abbreviated, anyway, thank the 6 God: Though VIEWS' release date was meant to be April 29, at around 11:17 p.m. ET, Drake himself tweeted out a link to the album's iTunes page, effectively announcing that the album, which he'd officially announced in 2014, had finally arrived.)
Featuring a total of 20 songs — which is exactly what was promised by the tracklist Drake posted to Twitter on April 27 — the album includes already-released hits like "Hotline Bling," "Pop Style," and "One Dance," as well as new, sure-to-be hits "Keep the Family Close," "Controlla," and "Too Good." Also, if you were wondering whether or not Drake is still as lyrically gifted as he's always been, the answer is a resounding yes: In the first track off the album, "Keep the Family Close," Drake drops what might be my favorite line of anything in 2016 so far: "Like when Chrysler made that one car that looked just like the Bentley/ I always saw you for what you could have been." Like, get ready to have a million Instagram caption ideas based off these lyrics, that's all I'm saying.
Honestly, after all this time (it's easy to forget that it's been over a year since Drake released his last mixtape, If You're Reading This It's Too Late !), I'm overwhelmed with joy at the idea of having Drake back in the game. Drizzy, I think I speak for all of us when I say: Welcome back. We all missed you.
