The rumors are true, my pink whipped cream enthusiasts. The Starbucks Birthday Cake Frappuccino is back, and it's celebrating a pretty huge milestone — it's the Frappuccino's 21st birthday this summer! The drink is only around for a limited time (like, super limited time), so if you don't know where to get a Starbucks Birthday Cake Frappuccino, you should probably figure it out ASAP. The drink returns to stores April 28, and is only around until May 2, and because you don't want to spend your weekend going on a wild goose chase trying to hunt one down, there are a few things you need to know about its availability.
The Birthday Cake Frappuccino is an especially welcome treat from the Starbucks gods, if only because it was such a huge hit last year. The frosty beverage made its official debut in stores last spring, and though it was only around for five days, it definitely made an impact. In fact, it was so successful that Starbucks even did a variation of the drink later in the summer, when it introduced the Cupcake Frappuccino as one of its limited time Fan Flavors. And, well, some people (me) have been dreaming about the incredible flavor ever since. Vanilla bean and hazelnut blend together to perfectly imitate the treat that inspired the drink's name — a birthday cake. Seriously, it's kind of insane how similar the two taste. If you haven't tried one, now is definitely the time.
So how do you get your hands on this limited offering? The special treat is being offered in most Starbucks stores in the U.S. and Canada, so chances are, you should have no problem walking into your nearest location and just asking for one. (Though, if you're worried, it never hurts to call ahead and ask.) If, for whatever reason, the store doesn't have one, first ask yourself what you did to the universe to bring about such negative karmic energy, and then get creative. Ask your barista for a Vanilla Bean Creme Frappuccino (which is part of Starbucks' permanent menu), and have them add in a pump of hazelnut syrup. Voila! You might not have the added bonus of pink whipped cream (that's a special perk shipped in specifically for the Birthday Cake Frapp), but the flavor profile should still be the same.
That being said, most stores should have the Birthday Cake Frappuccino this weekend, which runs between $4.25 and $4.95 for a tall, depending on where you live. Get one, get two, get one every single day until the deal is up. I mean, it's kind of like having cake for five days straight, right? If you ask me, that sounds divine.
