Leos are natural born leaders — they like to be in charge, and their self-confidence is something other signs admire. They're full of ambition, and work hard to accomplish their goals. That being said, when certain planets go retrograde, Leos can find themselves behaving in ways that may seem opposite of how they normally act. Communication could become more difficult, or you might find yourself feeling more withdrawn and introverted than usual. Those feelings tend to pass once the retrograde planet goes direct, but whew, it can be a confusing time.
Now, I'm not a professional astrologist, but I have felt the effects of Mercury retrograde firsthand, and I can say from experience that wow, it can be a doozy, no matter what your sign. 1. Jupiter
On most days, you and Jupiter are BFFs. It's the planet of wealth, opportunity, and expansion — and ambitious Leos are constantly looking for ways to become more successful in their careers. But, when Jupiter is retrograde, people of all zodiac signs become a little withdrawn. Financially, everyone is advised to pay close attention to where they're spending their money, and why. Leos in particular will feel its effects when it comes to career opportunities. If you're looking to make your next big career move, you might want to wait for the planet to go direct on May 9.
2. Saturn
When Saturn is retrograde, it can be easy for people of all signs to dwell on personal insecurities. Saturn rules our feelings of duty and responsibility, and when it's retrograde, some people can only focus on where they think they're failing, or need to improve. You don't have time for that, Leo. You have so many things going on at any one time, this might be a good opportunity to take a step back and reflect on what you need to prioritize. Everyone has limitations, and Saturn retrograde is the perfect time to see which boundaries need to be respected, and which ones are self-imposed.
3. Mars
Mars is another good one to have on your side — it's a super assertive planet many astrologists associate with energy. It doesn't go retrograde very often, but when it does, you might feel a little sluggish, or burnt out. Especially for a sign as energetic as Leo, this can be frustrating when you're feeling too tired to do everything you're normally able to do, no prob. Astrologists advise most people against starting too many new things during this time, whether it's a new relationship, or a new job. Instead, view this period as a chance to relax. You don't have to constantly be on the move. This might be a good opportunity to stay home and recharge.
4. Pluto
Pluto is a shady planet — literally — and when it goes retrograde, your normal, sunny disposition might not shine as brightly as normal. This isn't a bad thing, it just means that you're looking more inward during this period than you are outward, and might be spending more time contemplating your emotions rather than acting on them. It can even be a regenerative time for many people. Some astrologists suggest this is a good time to purge yourself of any emotional baggage that's been weighing you down.
5. Mercury
Mercury in retrograde likes to trip all of us up. The planet is what rules clear communication, so when it's retrograde life becomes a little bit harder for everyone as we try to navigate the murky waters of criss-crossed signals and misunderstandings. Leos should try to avoid making any important negotiations, and are advised to keep a close eye on finances. Just remember the universe isn't out to get you personally — Mercury retrograde can be an annoying time for everyone. But, it will all be over soon — May 22, to be exact — and you'll be back to your fiery, charming, passionate Leo self in no time.
