Bye, Bye 'Ravenswood'?

by Kate Ward

Seems ABC Family fans are going to have to settle in Rosewood. Because, according to Deadline, Pretty Little Liars' spin-off, Ravenswood , has been canceled after one season on the air. It would be a somewhat surprising move for ABC Family — not only because the series was so closely affiliated with a series as successful as Pretty Little Liars, but also because the series appeared to be popular with its audience (no matter how small). Many viewers were immediately addicted to the series — which, just one week ago, aired its winter finale — and Ravenswood recently attracted burgeoning ratings, experiencing an impressive percentage increase in its audience since its fall premiere.

Unfortunately, it seems it might not have been enough for the teen mystery series. As Deadline notes, even its higher numbers in January couldn't match its lead-in — Pretty Little Liars attracted 3.2 million viewers, while Ravenswood only managed to rake in 1.7 million people watching ABC Family. And, regardless of any ratings boon it might have experienced since its fall premiere, that's a serious decrease. It appears as though, seeing those numbers, the network is hoping to avoid the pitfalls experienced by one if Pretty Little Liars' most popular characters, Ashley Benson's Hanna Marin.

Of course, this could mean good things for some Pretty Little Liars fans — Ravenswood's reported cancelation could lead to the return of Tyler Blackburn's Caleb. Either way, isn't it now time to jumpstart the theories blaming Red Coat for the reported cancelation?
