Pro Wrestler Chyna Dies At Age 46

In sad news for the wrestling world and its many, many fans, pro wrestler Chyna died at age 46 on April 20. Of course, because this seems so sudden, fans are probably wondering how Chyna died. According to CNN, Chyna (real name: Joan Laurer) was found at her Redondo Beach, Calif. home on Wednesday. Police were notified that Chyna was unconscious by a friend who went to check on her. CNN reports that "the cause of death is under investigation, but police say there are no signs of foul play." According to local Redondo Beach network KTLA, the Los Angeles County Coroner is investigating Chyna's death.

A post on Chyna's website informed fans of her death and reads,

It is with deep sadness to inform you today that we lost a true icon, a real life superhero. Joanie Laurer aka Chyna, the 9th wonder of the world has passed away. She will live forever in the memories of her millions of fans and all of us that loved her.

Chyna gained fame at the height of pro wrestling's popularity in the late '90s due to her involvement with the WWE. According to NPR, Chyna "became the only woman to qualify for prestigious tournaments such the Royal Rumble and King of the Ring, as well as the Intercontinental Championship."
