Rihanna Supports A Fan While He Comes Out

I have been following pop music for a very long time, and I have to say, Rihanna's Navy are some of the most devoted and fierce fans in the pop world. Rihanna is notorious for her amazing encounters with her fans at meet-and-greets, and recently yet another side of her fan love was shown. An fan came forward anonymously to Buzzfeed to share that Rihanna helped him come out as gay to his friends and family. Their exchange truly shows the soft spot Rih has for her fans and a side that many might not know about her.

Most people know Rihanna as the unapologetic, fierce, independent, and strong woman she is on stage and in her music videos. She isn't afraid to be sexual and voice her opinion, but Rihanna also has a tender side that might not be celebrated or known as well.

Rihanna follows many of her Navy members on Twitter, and one of them decided to reach out via direct message to get the courage to come out to their friends and family.

You can imagine that Rihanna probably gets a lot of DMs, but the fact that she paid so much attention to this fan was very touching and gave me a different insight on her character. Rihanna's first response to the fan was that being yourself was the only option.

According to the fan, the 28-year-old singer said:

Baby, it's okay to be scared, but it's more important to be who you are! You don't have a choice really! That's not a decision to be made! You are who you are, and as hard as it may seem, the best sh*t ever is freedom and peace within yourself! Your family may not understand, but luckily you live in a generation that does! And not to mention the community here among us, we will hold you down boo!

Her support didn't end there. The fan shared with BuzzFeed that he is slowly coming out to his close ones and continued to let Rihanna know of his progress, and she kept guiding him along, asking how the family was reacting. The fan also shared that he felt that he didn't have anyone else to talk to and that only Rihanna would understand. It is beautiful that a fan felt so close to his favorite star and that she reciprocated the love so genuinely.

After some more sweet exchanges, the "Work" performer made sure to add some final words of encouragement. She said, "Thank YOU for being honest! I'm so happy you're getting what you deserve! I'll be forever supporting you, you were here from day 1...love you more!"

What kind of dream come true is the Navy living that they have this relationship with Rih? The fan told BuzzFeed that he will be meeting Rih-Rih for the first time in July during her Anti world tour, and they hope to be fully out by then.
