Taylor Swift Is Unrecognizable On 'Vogue' Cover
The super blonde woman on the cover of Vogue's May issue may look like a complete stranger, but is an artist you definitely know. Perhaps Olivia Benson the cat, Catastrophe in "Bad Blood," or the phrase "Starbucks lovers" might ring a bell? Ding, ding, ding! Taylor Swift covers Vogue next month with shaggy, bright blonde hair and dramatic makeup that renders her pretty unrecognizable. Looking much edgier than usual, there's no doubt people will be doing a double take when they pass this photo on newsstands.
For the most part, we are used to seeing Swift rocking gorgeous, girly gowns at red carpet appearances, and getting photographed by the paparazzi in adorable co-ords. So when she changes up her look, it's usually quite a surprise. And that's true for her latest Vogue cover, that's for sure.
According to People Stylewatch, Anna Wintour told The Today Show this morning that she wanted to give Swift a different look in anticipation of her new role as co-chair at the annual Met Gala, one of the biggest fashion events of the year. Wintour described it as "rock n’ roll chick," and that's certainly what she achieved with Swift's heavy shag in a super blonde shade with stark makeup. Be prepared to do a double take, because you've probably never seen Swift like this before.
Of course, Swift looks stunning as always. But there's no denying she looks completely different from her usual self. Her blonde take on the Joan Jett hair cut gives her a rock n' roll vibe, even though her cover outfit is a sequined mini dress.Between the hair, the makeup, and the alluring pose, I really had to question my sanity when I found out this was for sure the Swift we all know and love. Especially since she also looks so similar to model, Vogue favorite, and best friend, Karlie Kloss.
This isn't the first time Swift has appeared on the cover of Vogue looking completely different.
In February of 2012, Swift made her first cover appearance with long, straight hair and blunt bangs. Combined with the heavy eye makeup and the wide brim hat, the look was stunning. But back then, during her Speak Now days, which was very much still connected to her country roots, it was certainly a different look for Swift.
Swift and BFF Kloss appeared on the cover of Vogue together for the magazine's March issue last year. They basically looked like twins with matching hair colors, outfits, and facial expressions, which made it hard to distinguish them from one another other.
Even media outlets like Hollywood Life are questioning on social media via the Tweet above, "Taylor Swift or Karlie Kloss?"
Ultimately Wintour achieved the rock vibe she was going for, Swift and Kloss are continuing their indistinguishable reign, and Swift just looks absolutely gorgeous. I don't know about you, but that's enough for me to want to pick the May issue of Vogue from the newsstand.
