'Kimmy Schmidt's Ellie Kemper Has Some Big News

Wonderful news for funny lady Ellie Kemper. According to PEOPLE, the star of huge comedy hits such as The Office, Bridesmaids, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is expecting! The site reported on Wednesday that Kemper is expecting her first child with her husband, comedy writer Michael Koman. And the news couldn’t come at a more exciting time for Kemper, whose new season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is set to premiere this Friday on Netflix.

In addition to this exciting news, Kemper will be visiting all the talk shows you can think of promoting Season 2 of her hit series, including The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday and Today on Thursday morning. In fact, E! News reports that Kemper made the official announcement during a taping of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. According to the report, the Kimmy Schmidt actress kept the pregnancy a secret while filming Season 2 of the series, telling absolutely no one except for show creator Tina Fey. (If only Fey were the woman we all could confide in when we had life-changing news that we didn’t want anyone else to know. Sigh. Because if anyone can understand headlining an award-winning show while managing motherhood, it would be her.)

This is the first child for both Kemper and Koman, the latter of whom previously worked as a writer for Conan O’Brien. The two dated for a number of years before marrying in 2012.
